UGH.

thats all there is to say about this workout.

2x2 miles at race pace.

It should have been easy, and it should have been a fantastic, confidence boosting workout.

But it was the opposite of both of these.

Everything hurt, the legs felt like lead and were sluggish. The pace was hard, and mentally I was completely defeated.

And that's the pace I think I can run for 13 miles straight.

Ugh.

My confidence has taken a serious hit over the last week and a half, and this was not the workout I needed today.

Never judge the week of. It's completely misleading and only serves to screw with the head. You can run that pace for 13, everything in your training history suggests it. Outlier. Seep lots this week. Rest easy. Get your head right. You got this.

Brenna speaks the truth. It's amazing what your brain can do for your physical performance. It's not surprising that your body is expressing its nervousness for the effort to come on Saturday by pulling back a bit. Think of it as "weakness leaving the body" (in a bad cliche) and know that you saved yourself some energy that you will be able to draw on Saturday. Don't ignore the incredible work you have done!
