Dad's 70th BDAY got started right. 5ish mile race in the TTT series at Concord. Haven't run these trails before so wasn't sure what to expect. was pretty sure they would be fairly tame. On the start line figuring Jamie Mccart was going to be the toughest comp and it separated like that pretty quick. I slipped in behind since I knew he gets out quick. After about a mile could tell he was stronger on the uphills. He surged on a slight incline and gapped me for about 600 meters but then clawed back on the flat and downhill. Got to the bridge crossing in 14:30 and figured it would be more around 16 so was pleased Had to close down a slight gap again and decided at that point was going to stay behind until 25 minutes give or take of racing. single technical trail on the other side of bridge but felt good and staying easy behind. Came to a road crossing and felt Jamie waiver so i made the past and it worked in my favor with the course being flat for a bit so put a gap on him. In the last mile knew I would have some climbing up so had to push. Doubted a turn at the end so Jamie caught up. Cost me 15 ish seconds probably. Overall pleased with the day. Didn't feel strong on the uphill but alot better then last week. Lost to jen weston by 3 minutes at midnight and beat her today by 4 minutes.
