Notes

First run in the new Hyperion Tempos and they came through.

Heading in I wanted to be 18:15 at the slowest really wanted sub 18 and then top goal was beat Fireball 2021 but really thought it would be a battle for sub 18 based on some of the AP work and how it has felt.

Felt avg to solid on the warmup of 18 mins with 2 mins uptempo and several 25-30 sec pickups. Good spot on the line and plan was to use liz hendron to look at early and anthony jackson and travis wilson also. Got out and really the top 10 stayed in group with me in the back of this but Liz was towards the front so I trusted I wasn't in over my head. After about 800 leaders started to gap a little and i was running with anthony Jackson through 1 mile which we hit in 5:32 which was a shock. I do feel it is a little net down but strava watches say even elevation so I don't know. From there liz was about 6-9 seconds up I would say consistently in the race. And Jackson had bridged the gap to her, I settled in during the second mile and split 5:41 which from there I knew I was going to crack 18 at that point and then question was how far under and could I beat Fireball. I think apart of me got consistent and settled at this point and protected my time instead of going on the offensive. I had several runners there and travis wilson passed me but I didn't shift my form like I needed to in order to see if I could finish strong and bridge the gap to Liz. The 3rd mile ended a little quicker then i realized and split 5:52 which was frustrating but I shifted gears and passed travis then realized gaining on liz and really started moving strong. Needed to use this a little sooner but was pretty dead at the end. Really pleased with outcome of training block and being engaged early. Last mile i zoned out and protected and didn't race and test myself like I want too.

*Going to put a summary of this training block on Sunday
