16th overall/ 3rd age group, 5th master.
Overall don't feel like a great day. Pace seemed tough from the start. Knew I was out quicker then pace wanting to avg but felt tougher then i remember it feeling then last year. The group that had all the runners ( ellington, meiske, horton, givens, etc)I wanted to compete with all had a gap on me fairly quick and knew I couldn't get to them. Hit mile in 5:29 so only a few seconds quicker then last year and felt like i was working harder. Gina rouse went around me just before the mile and that is who i ended up racing the rest of the day. Pretty quickly had to get the head in the right space to fight for what i could do on the day. A couple time gina would get some steps and i would need get my head that i needed to close the gap. in the 3rd mile andy baksa and another guy went around. The one guy kept moving through steady and got 10 seconds by the finish. Andy was around gina and i but then got a gap in the last 800 i started to pull back at finish but didn't get him. In the last k i made a good call to get on gina and sit for a little bit before putting a move on the downhill towards the finish, Around 11:12 or last mile and 16:56 3rd mile.
