not bad for mile 25

My report on the race: I wasn't over my illness; in fact, the bronchitis really kicked in Friday afternoon, and I felt like crap Saturday morning. I showed up and did the race anyway, but not really racing. Fortunately, the bronchitis isn't accompanied with much coughing, so the running actually seems to make me feel better. If you were to hear me speak right now, you might thing a bear is growling at you, so it's best that this is not an audio report. Smile Another 10K next Saturday, and I'm hoping to be in better shape for that one.

Hi Di - Good to hear from you. Sorry to hear of your continuing health problems. I admire all your grit.  You work for a gaming company? I didn't know that.

Rich - Spent last evening babysitting the grandkids, and we had a great time, even though I'm still sick with what I got from one of them.

az - You sure cover a lot of territory and see a lot of stuff and meet a lot of people. Nonetheless, we sometimes forget to keep ourselves fueled and hydrated. I've been there. As you say, lesson learned. Maybe someday I'll get to more interesting places, but I'm pretty happy with my cloistered life for now.  I'll get out more when I retire! Smile

Art - That compressor is a bit tricky. You needed persistence to get it going, as you do with your cars.  Yeah, I didn't have so much as a sniffle for a year and a half, and now...  I'm thinking continuing to wear a mask under certain circumstances will be a good idea; either when I might be sick, or when I don't want to get sick.

Led: how did you do in the 10k?

Just caught your post!! Sometimes just running a race feels good, no matter the outcome. Good for you to tough it out. Good  luck on Saturday. Where?
Those speed races (yes,10ks are sprints as far as I’m concerned) are abundant in the summers it seems.
For obvious reasons. Not my faves unless it’s a technical hilly trail. But I’m just not a sprint runner. Training for them hurts LOL!
I’m just lucky sometimes meeting interesting people with great conversational skills. Don’t have time for boring people. But it depends on the trail I choose to run on and when. I stay close to my home trails most of the time bcuz I don’t want to drive anywhere.
        Glad you’re feeling better.

        Trails

          Hi all!

Yes Led I work for a small Tribe and we now have 3 casinos.  One in Wyandotte, OK, one in KC, KS and our new one in Park City, KS (outside of Wichita, KS). I work for the main office in Wyandotte and the casinos are just one part of what I do.  We also have 3 convenience stores, a technology business and some govt contracts.  I'm an internal auditor but I do all sorts of stuff from data analysis to process documentation.

Monday, 6/7... didn't get out early enough to beat the heat today, so rode the mtn bike 8 miles on the railtrail.

              Happy Monday!

Like NH, I didn't get out early either for a short run ....... but I needed the sleep apparently. Fell asleep at 9:30 pm, what?!?  And didn''t wake up till 7:30 am. Felt great!! I probably could have still got in a 3-4 miler but I decided to chill in the front courtyard with my hot green tea and enjoy the sunshine against the mountain, birds singing and my chimes and reading for a couple of hours. ahhh, bliss!

Did my usual home workout with PiYo, weights, and foam rolling instead........ late breakfast. Attempted weed pulling in the backyard in the shadow of the shade and washing windows till I started to sweat like a fountain so cleaned, swept garage. And it's only 1 pm, LOL! Read for another couple of hours sitting in the shade again with icy cold water. Will probably go for a walk around the neighborhood later this evening. Body feels back to 'normal' ......

Sounds like we are making adjustments to the hot temps of the summer. Stay cool and hydrated.

Important work you do.  Lincoln is getting its first casino, a honkin' big one, it seems to me.  The Winnebagos will be running it.

Tuesday, 6/8... today is the last with temps in the mid 90's, at least for now...Lol  I'd thought about running when I got up, but could already feel the humidity at 5:00 am, so ended up riding the tryke for a short 5 mile row on the trail.  It's never wasted miles when I ride the thing, so it's all good...

Led... meant to congratulate your 10K performance, anybody can toe the line when they feel good, you did well under circumstances that would have kept a lot of people home, so good for you!

Az... congrats. getting caught up on your sleep, that's taking 'listening to your body' to a whole 'nuther' level! Lol

Just doing the usual 3.9 mile canal route with exercises each morning. And then do a few things before I need to get to work or it gets too hot out.

Led - Good job getting out and completing the race even though you didn't feel your best. You'll do good in the next one. I wonder how many other people will make that connection and wear a mask some more. Probably not a lot.

AZ - Your body was telling you something about your lack of sleep. Even if we don't run there is always something we can do to get some exercise in. Owning a home makes sure of that.

Rich - That must of been some humidity if you felt it that early in the morning. Is that normal for this time of year? We have about another month before the humidity starts picking up here. That's if we have a normal monsoon season.

Wednesday. 6/9... 5 mile trail run this morning.   Cooler, dryer air is flowing in from Canada, so our weather's about to improve dramatically.   It improved a little today, but tonight's forecast low is 56 and tomorrow's high, 76.

Art... don't sell yourself short with the workouts you're doing, especially the exercises, it's good stuff!  Everything depends on where our weather's coming from, whether or not it'll be humid or not.  Obviously, Canadian air is great this time of year, but not so much in January.  Same thing with air flowing up from the south, that's usually where the warm, humid stuff comes from, while air coming from the Midwest tends to be hot and drier.  But yeah, when the dewpoint's pushing 70, it's something you can feel, even at 5:00 am.

NH: Darn dew point definitely makes a huge clammy sweaty difference ...... no matter how early you want to run ..... I remember those MN mornings.  Good job on staying consistent on your mileage. It certainly does wonders to keeping body adapted and can relieve some of the stress on the bones/joints.  That's what I tell myself  and have gleaned from articles as well.

Tues: 5 miles on the flattest trail I can find near home but it does have a couple of decent short hills. Nice with hazy clouds and breeze but temps climbed pretty quickly.

Wed: 7 miles on the longer loop. Should have gone at least 30 minutes early but it was nice with some clouds and a breeze. Met a female hiker with her dog (unleashed) but it was very obedient and calm.  We talked about 15 min, lived in a different neighborhood about 2 miles south of ours. Hope to get to know her more, they moved here about 3 yrs ago.

Thurs: Our main library has reopened, YAY!! So I'm here to do some printing and pick up my books that I reserved. Social distancing is observed, masks required and only certain number of people are allowed so the announcement is made now and then to enjoy the library but to be aware of others who may be waiting, in any case, people are excited and happy about it!!

I'm planning on running later this evening just because I needed to get some errands done this morning. I could have run around 6 am but why?!? LOL!! No, I didn't because it's pretty gusty throughout the night. Been pulling weeds in the evenings, endless work but it's nice to be out in the cooler evening temps.

I have webinar meetings to attend after 1 pm so you all stay safe and cool.

Thursday, 6/10... with the cooler weather, I ended up riding the mtn bike 10 miles on the trail this morning.  And no, it wasn't at 5:00 am! lol  Actually waited for the temp to warm into the high 60's before heading out, it was 56 when I got up...

Az... a hiking buddy close to home!  How good would that be?  Nice couple of workouts for you and more good news with the library re-opening!  Seems like each day, we get a little closer to normal again. Finally!
