In my case the doctor said the PF caused the heel spur to irritate the surrounding tissue. Dealt with the PF and the irritation disappeared.

Yup, bingo. So good news, at least, is that I have a ~2 week head start on treating it because it's all the same tricks I've had up my sleeve from the last PF battle.

What are your options?  I had a heel spur, discovered during a  case of PF.  The doctor treated the PF, ignored the heel spur, and once the PF was gone had no more issues with the heel spur.

Yeah that's what we're doing - all the usual PF stuff (stretching/rolling/icing etc and no going barefoot at all ever), check back in 6 weeks from now, maybe try shockwave therapy if it's not improving by then.
