Hip Redux

Oh, I had my Pilates class.  That woman is trying to kill me.

Do you use the reformer?  I was looking at classes because it's supposed to be good for building hip strength (you know, in two months when I can do such things lol).

FreeSoul is running a marathon?  Aw shit!

See what bad associations will do for you?  You could be a doctor, teacher or executive of a company but instead you wanna be a marathoner!

Once I got the diagnosis, I found it was really hard to run through the pain.   (not to mention, the pain was getting worse)   I found that if I thought it was "just" tendonitis, I could ignore it but something clicked once I realized I'd done real damage to myself lol     I ended up on the bike and elliptical a lot since they were both mostly painfree.

Just listen to yourself and don't push it if it doesn't feel right.

That's the weird part, Oski - running itself isn't painful unless I go very long. Even then, it's low level. It's after the run when it stiffens up. And sitting/driving for long periods the day after a run bring on some moderate-level achy pain and stiffness. And of course, there's that certain twisting motion that I occasionally do. That really hurts.

I will listen to the body, and I won't push it. Probably 3-4 tomorrow, then two days' rest. The 2 day rest makes a big difference, as does the shorter runs.

I know, but I have the attention span of a gnat sometimes.  So when is it?  Indy in November?

I was at a similar junction before my surgery (not the knee) and ended up using the bike a lot.  I would just try something like that that won't hurt you more and kill that cardiovascular's ass.

Maybe I ought to take the bike out for about a 30-40 minute spin tomorrow. I have no idea how the knee would react to that, but I suppose its worth a trial ride to see. I'll stay on the flat area and test it out if I do decide to ride.

Problem around here is that there are just so damn many hills. I can find a few miles to run, but even though I haven't rode much the last several years, I know that I still ride at least twice as fast as I run. Which means I need twice the road basically.

I have been on it, you just shake a lot...unless of course your core is strong, in which case you wouldn't be on it in the first place.

you get used to it. It's really good. Hard, but good. Ask Marjorie.

Howdy from Oklahoma City. Long travel day, ended up going for a run when I got to my hotel at about 5PM. Temp of 89 degrees with 72 dewpoint -- yowza, we're not in Michigan anymore Toto. A sweaty 5.2 miles, intended to be easy, but despite the heat ended up at avg 8:25 mpm, about 30 sec faster than my usual easy pace. Go figure.

Hmmm, that might be a good idea to start since I'll be starting at a pretty low level.   I'll have to ask if it will be ok before I start (yeah, I got time).  I know yoga is a definite no-no after surgery but I think pilates is ok.

Three really good things happened today......in order of importance

                              1) Tonight at the hospital, after 9 days of wait and worry the specialist told us FIL is out of danger!!!!

No prognosis on if he will regain speech or mobility but at least we can breathe a collective sigh

                              of relief.

                              2) Participated in a flash mob at the local mall with clients from my work. The opening day for our

"Disability  Awareness Week". So much fun!!

                              3) After being a teen in the late 70's/early 80's during the last incarnation of skinny colored jeans

I swore I would never go back to that dark fashion place.  A friend talked me into trying some on today.

(4 sizes smaller than I would have taken when I was 18) and I was shocked to find that I loved them.

3 pairs later I think I may go back for more . The store is closing and they were $80, last week clearance

                                 price........$15 each!!

A very good day indeed!! Smile

Flash mob - sounds interesting. Actually it probably sounds great!
