The pain that hurts the worse is the imagined pain. One of the most difficult arts of racing is learning to ignore the imagined pain and just live with the present pain (which is always bearable.) - Jeff

Thanks Holly, this is a recovery week for me and then it's time for an earnest attempt at getting back into sub 20 5K shape if that is even possible!

GREAT week, but life got in the way of running. No complaints.

Thanks once again Holly. I probably won't hit 40 again this week (but then again, I might), but I figured this will be my last week for a while, so why not post anyhow. My Garmin is officially busted, so my mileage is approximate, which is rather unnerving. I guess "comfortable with uncertainty" is really the name of the game for me!

"Some are the strong, silent type. You can't put your finger on exactly what it is they bring to the table until you run without them and then you realize that their steadiness fills a hole that leaks energy in their absence." - Kristin Armstrong
First time in, after lurking for a few months. In another thread group I foolishly threw out a "10/day in May" challenge, which the smart people all declined. And another group counts the number of half marathons each week (52 in 52), so I fit those in whenever I feel up to it.
So the plan looks like this:
Day Plan Actual Comment Monday 10 11 Okay, but not feeling too great. Tuesday 10 8.2 Managed 7, then struggled to tack on one more. Wednesday 10 14.5 Had it today, so went for it. Nice sub-8 pace. Thursday 10 7.4 Maybe push to 13. Or maybe not. Recovery day from Wed. Friday 10 14.6 3.5 in NB Minimus; saw a "turtle" (slow, old friend) and saved a turtle on sidewalk Saturday 10+ 7.3 Yuck. I guess yesterday was today's 14. Sunday 10+ 11.3 Fair enough. A bunch of sub-8's and 7:59 overall Total 70+ 75.3 Squeaked in just over goal.

I would like to have been able to start here with last week's 95 miles, but that's all over and done with. And perhaps somewhat the cause of this week's off-pace struggles so far.
Jpdeaux - welcome! No rest days?
How did I post this twice?
Thanks!
If by rest days you mean totally non-running days, then no (stupid streak, and all). But yesterday's "recovery day" was kind of a rest day. When I really need it, I'll do a 3 mile loop at a very easy pace for a rest day. (Yesterday should have been one of those.)
oops.
Another busy one but got 51.7 easy miles done.
Plan on being back to post regularly next week.
Be safe. Be kind.
