Me Minus Five by March" campaign/week 2 (Read 358 times)

I looked for a poem to inspire us during the week 2 of MM5, but could not find one, but this precious picture kept popping up in my mind..

... this lonely flower sure had learned the lesson of "bloom where you are planted"

I know that  collectively we have been able to get rid of a few pounds on week one, some participants were more successful than other, just like in real life, right?

...but last week is last week and now we all have a brand new week to make a new "less me" week!

    Time to start fresh!!!

Tell us your lessons learned last week and your plan for MM5 by March for this week.

Wait - I didn't think we had to weigh until Thursday!  I don't like today's number (me minus zero), can I try again tomorrow?

(At least I have an excuse, with "hormonal issues" - I'm hoping I'm just bloated....)

Life is a headlong rush into the unknown. We can hunker down and hope nothing hits us or we can stand tall, lean into the wind and say, "Bring it on, darlin', and don't be stingy with the jalapenos."

DisapproveDisapproveDisapprove Up a pound and a half. I haven't weighed this much since I was pregnant with DS#2 24 years ago. Haven't even had any wine or anything since last Friday. To say I'm depressed would be an understatement.

Me minus 2.2 this week.    I have cut out drinking on weeknights, except for our date night on Wednesday's in which I have a glass of wine.   I have simply cut back and not denying myself anything.   Of course, ramping up some miles is helping a bit too I think.

<sneaking in> I've been afraid to look at the scale, let alone get on it.  Maybe next week.  Joking  <sneaking out>

Holly, you can hop on the scale anytime. This supposed to be fun Joking and you are right, hormones are girls' worse enemy. I tend to gain up to 4 pounds during "that week"

Me minus 1.5 pounds. I was hoping for more since I ran 51 miles last week, I went to the gym three times and snowshoed for 5 hours...

I did drink more water, ate a lot more veggies and cut back on my cheese intake, but I did not cut out my one glass of wine per night.

              This week's goal:

              drink more,

start eating oatmeal for breakfast again (this was my trend for a while and it helped)

watch sweets during the weekend, this will be hard because we are having friends visit us for 4 days.

Can we talk about what's for dinner?

I made some tasty baked quinoa patties last night. Kale and high protein grain....good stuff. Loved the dill in them.

Bonus: leftover quinoa was heated up with raisins and cinnamon for breakfast today.

Tonight will be a spicy salmon with carmelized onions.

What is everyone making for dinner?

Down about 3 (since November) by keeping wine out of the house, which eliminated the snacking on Pepper Jack Cheez-Its.

The next 2 will be hard. More long fat-burner runs should help, and cutting back on chocolate.

Paavo - those quinoa patties look delish!  I have to try that.  Sounds like a great mid-afternoon work snack, too.  Being the obsessive calorie counter I am, though, I'll have to do the math on all the ingredients to see what a proper portion size is.

I'm working late tonight, so the family is fending for themselves with leftovers.  I have a container of cold sweetened and cinnamoned oatmeal in the office fridge that will be my late afternoon snack (reminds of of rice pudding when I eat it cold like that), and will likely microwave a Morningstar Farms Tomato and Basil Pizza Burger when I get home.  Cheating, I know, but I'm supposed to take DD shopping for snow boots after work, so no time for cooking.

That recipe looks good Paavo (coming from the pickiest eater ever) but I have to confess I do not know what Quinoa is or where to find it in the store?

I'm finding it sorta humorous that a "Lets Lose Weight" thread is filled with Food Recipes!  Stands to reason I suppose.  Wink

I am down one pound, over about a week or two of watching what I eat (and including a trip to Red Robin, which didn't set me back!)  The biggest factor for me is cutting down on wine, and the cheesies or chips that I can't help snacking on when I do have a glass or two.

The other thing that is helping is having lots of leafy greens in the house to fill up on during dinnner.  I failed yesterday and ate a cookie around 3:30 when I was hungry instead of eating some fruit.

I have some quinoa I bought that I didn't know what to do with, thanks for the recipe!

Hopeful, quinoa is a high protein grain. I find Ancient Harvest brand in the organic section in the grocery store.

enke, there are so many recipes that use quinoa! It's good just as a hot cereal, too.

                            Thanks Paavo.....

For dinner I am making "reservations".  hahaha    Well, not really, but it is date night and I suggested we go to Applebee's so that I can have one of their 500 calorie meals.    I had one about a year ago and it was really good and filling.   They have some new ones now to choose from.

I use quinoa all the time. I love them, I will try your patties next week.

Paavor, or lunch I am enjoying your cauliflower with a quick, yummie. The only addition to your recipe is the milk. All, but one person in the house has milk allergy, so we don't carry milk in the house and if the recipe calls for milk I have to buy it in small quantity. Anyway, no milk in the house last night, so I used a left over coconut milk and it was delicious.

                              Dinner for tonight?

calllard greens, green salad, halibut and more of paavos' cauliflower...ohhh and a glass of red merlot Smile
