TRIing to fit in (Read 16 times)

you don't "hold your feet up" when you swim. god damn it, put your head down!

your swelled head weighs about 30lbs. that should off set your feet.

In order to see the truth, sometimes you have to loose an eye.

Did I sign up for Cuch Bootcamp or something?

I don't remember the waiver form or supplying my insurance info.

however i don't have time for this shit. make up you're mind...any further hesitance on your part and you'll be directed to the "other" recruiting department where i hear many have opted for. Surprised <-this is a yawn.

When I was toying with the idea of doing a tri, I took a couple swim lessons. Practically the very first thing out of Marty's mouth after watching me swim was that I "swim like a runner".

And cuch, I was actually thinking just today about the mental side of running. I think 90% might even be low. You have to be fit to run well, obviously, but I really do think the mental part is more important.

A list of my PRs in a misguided attempt to impress people that do not care.

maybe this reminder will help someone...or 3 of you...or none.

it's better than trying to figure out ass spue from me.

I'm the someone.  It will help me.  I do try to keep pushing my head down, so we are back to core.  I'll get there, at least well enough to be passable.

If I were to do a Half Ironman, the difference in good swim and bad swim for me is probably what, 15 minutes?  In the big scheme, it would probably just be more important to not worry about it and just get in and do it, which is what I'm doing.

1st tri if you're still working on this then i would agree...then after that i would have to say 15 minutes is a huge slug of time...i now feel 2 minutes is a huge slug of time...and 1 second can make the difference between an achieved goal or failed one...you know that better than anyone in here. you've got a huge slug of time to fix anything however.

And can you stop saying "ass spue"?  It's definitely giving me a bad visual.  Ugh, it happened again.

                      *sigh*

this was a fun re-read for me...if any of you do this, you may want to somehow replicate these conditions with others in the group or the KBIA cove swim?

fyi...the washing machine and the cold are 2 different animals that can have the same effect on your air x 10 if you go out too fast. at least it was for me at the pirate tri where nerves took over and i floored it.

rode up w/shell, rich, gaud and c. i was a fuckin wreck and not even shells constant happiness could settle me. got there with plenty of time to spare got ourselves mahked and all our crap set and got ready and i was sick to my stomach and fightin a teary breakdown. fear won. fuckin athletes meetin it was like the guy was movin his mouth and nothin was comin out. national anthem took forevah and finally it was time. i was in the 3rd wave so i got to watch the 1st 2 w/gaud and paul b. in the second. shit i'm up. nothin on this earth can prepare you for the swim leg...accept a swim leg...period. i was behind 1 women...thought i'd be ok here...i'd thought i'd just let her take me out and just swim. on the go command, we staht runnin...the women in front took like 3 steps and dropped...and i just about ran her ovah. then i'm down and i just staht swimmin like mad and i'm getin pummelled. i hear gaud in my head...just keep goin - don't stop - keep swimmin! i'm fuckin tryin and i'm just gettin swamped. with each attempted breath, i took in watah...fuck i was coughin and i swear i thought i was gonna fuckin die. i stahted dog paddlin and i couldn't catch my breath till the rush passed. then i was able to go but i was breathin every stroke and it was the most fuckin horrendous experience i have evah had in my life. i lost 2 fuckin minutes here easy. around the bouys and it felt bettah...but i was toast...already. end swim.

Maybe you could just kayak beside me, slash me every time I come up and occasionally whack me with your paddle.  You'd probably enjoy that.

Good luck with all that, I am freaked out just thinking about it!

nonono! what i have planned will surely get you to panic mode. i am very sorry but it is necessary to have that experience BEFORE race day so you will actually like tris and not be turned off 50 yards from shore.

and c'mon gadboy! your participation is not only welcome but demanded. you have experience, it was canoe but so what?...don't waste it watching on the shore! with a wetsuit on, you are the canoe!
