Cool. I can have Gwen run with the Snyder twins.
Well you can but that's not what I meant. We can share that group and target times, like one of us at 24:00 and the other at 25:00 or something like that, and whoever sticks with who sticks. These are just suggestions, it's your show, but giving pacers sort of time targets and loosely putting kids with them but knowing the plan doesn't always ever work was something that I learned worked best for me.
The Snyders can't make it now, so there's that.

which one? And nice impersonal reference. The other one must feel great.
Feel better?
I'm in. I'll be there at 8ish.
Looking forward to holding Lewis back the first half and spurring him on the second. The former is easy enough. For the latter, I think the best way is to run alongside or slightly behind. Steve? Mike? Alicia? Any thoughts on this?
Older, slower, and trying to keep up with Tall Dave.
Cronuts all around!
Any thoughts on this?
With Lewis specifically I disagree. I think he would do better if pulled in the second half. My $.02
I'd be interested to hear what others have to say but it seems like running beside him would work. He's not going to say a thing to you the entire race so you'll obviously need to get a sense of how he is feeling and then ask him every .5 or so. I'll be interested to get your race report afterward to see what he does the final mile or so. Feel free to push him at the end if he looks ok. Don't let the meek, skinny outward appearance fool you. He's a beast and a very competitive kid.

I think I'll be all set with this description. I'll push, pull, or do a combination to see what works best for him. Hopefully I can start by getting him to make an aggressive prediction. I plan to hold him back the first mile, then start reeling people in the second, and use that second-mile success to reel in more as we approach the finish.
Huge day today and big thanks to many of you who helped pace. Greg2, L train, Doug, Gwen, Dick, Bob, Jean, and also Egad and Rob for being there for support. I know a bunch of you guys wanted to be there but had other commitments and you guys were with us in spirit. We had a guy run 21:21, 22:22, and 4 other students finish in sub 24.
No time for a more thorough write up because it's off to the soccer field but a couple of quick thoughts. I finally know how L train has felt for these last several years. This was by far the most enjoyment I've ever had in running and watching these kids work and compete. Having you guys there was pretty awesome as well. L Train, while dismissing this comment, is hugely responsible for getting the kids of the school involved in this thing and is the closest thing to Bob Randall this town has seen. This is the last time I will ever say anything nice about him, I promise.
Lastly, I had the chance to run with my 10 year old son and witness a 740, a low 740, and 3rd and final mile at 7:34ish and go under 24 while running with him the entire time. After that, I had the chance to finish with my 8 yo daughter who took 3 minutes off her time last year.
It was an awesome day.
Thanks man and thanks for letting me participate. This looked like the best year ever and that's largely due to you. Those kids were great and I think hope that Colin in particular learned a life lessons today. You couldn't have matched me better and I've never worked with him before. The school and kids are lucky this thing is in your hands.

Great job guys. My grandson had a great time as well. Future Sanford XC coaches should be thinking you!
What was I chasing again?
