Indi - cancelling the 20 sounds like the right thing to do.  Hope the taper makes your legs good as new

Sprinkles - good luck on the Graston. Remember, a few minutes of pain will be so worth the results.

mdawg - nice job on the 7.5

I think I'm going to do an easy 8 tonight.  I'm scrapping my MP run as a taper for my half.  Or maybe I should do 8 w/ 4 a MP or something?

    Smashy!!!

      Hey all,

Greetings from Frigid Columbus. Woke up this morning to snow on the ground. I haven't really complained about the weather all year, but seeing that snow just made me dread running today. I'm still gonna try to get out there. But if I don't, no big deal. I must be suffering from some sort of running version of Erectile Dysfunction Syndrome because I've never had less desire to run. Is there some sort of Viagra for runners?

Sprink, I know everyone's different, but I think it's risky to race a half a week before racing a full. Take care of those calves!

Mdawg, you probably looked "all business," and that inspired them. Cool story.

Indi, the hay is in the barn.

Onemile, just remember the race will be your Tempo this week. So, I don't think you'd miss those MP miles.

      Former Bad Ass

Hi, guys.  I was in court all morning, half asleep.  I have some asthma issue that has caught me unawares 2 days before my ultra and now I'm so exhausted from lack of breathing I'm not amused.  Off to a meeting and then to go home to sleep it off.

Hope everybody is having a great day.

The best viagra is the pressure of an upcoming race.  I sure wouldn't be running as much without it.

Okay. I'll just stick to easy run miles then.

Cbus - yeah, I think that's the first time you've complained about the weather all winter and haven't done a single TM run, props.

Another URD for me today.  PT went really well last night but I got beat up pretty bad so she gave me some strengthening exercises to do to reset some tendons, ligaments or something that was pinching in my hip and back and was causing everything to tighten up.  Big storm blowing now so no way i'm out running in that anyways.  Hopefully they get the roads cleared for my race on Saturday since its not going to be warm enough to melt anything that comes down.  Calling for a 14F start and a 18F finish.  No idea what to wear

For my 15k it was 12*, and I wore compression shorts, tights, long sleeve tech tee, short sleeved tech tee, windbreaker and beanie and that was just right.

Mdawg- The Graston was like death, but welcome death, because I had to take an URD due to the calves again, and it was good to hear how crunchy they were because it means i'm not actually injured.

Onemile - Still hurting an hour later, but hopefully I can run tomorrow!

Cbus- Yeah, after feeling these calves a week after NYC Half, not doing it. Viagra for runners  = too many carbs.

                Docket- feel better

Me: Spin tonight.  getting pissed at my legs.  PRs make me want to run more, not less.  Pfitzinger is probably mad at me right now from the inside of his book.

I've got a race coming up! Still a few weeks away, but upcoming nevertheless.

My DD has been sick all week, and now DW caught it. I'm hoping I avoid it, but now I'm starting to think these are related.

                      Ball of Fury

Like CBus, I was super unimpressed with the cold weather today!  I actually had a good night of sleep at work (well, as good as one can expect at work!) and got off at 10 AM, so I was all set to stop at a local paved trail to do my tempo run.  Um...yeah....as soon as I stepped foot outside, I scrapped that plan.  I just couldn't make myself do it,  ya know?  So, I went to lunch with DD and DH and we took her to an indoor play place instead.  I did manage to force myself out the door this afternoon for an easy 6, and it was actually a pretty good run.  A bit on the fast side (8:59/mile) for an easy run, but the effort was very easy.  I will do my tempo run tomorrow after work.

CBus:  Viagra for running...I like that!  If we could invent it, we would be rich!  DH has been mildly ill for about a week, with just vague fatigue, etc...so I wonder if that is what you are experiencing?  Plus, this weather just sucks!  I tell you what, if it is 90 on race day (May 4th), I am gonna be super pissed!

Sprinkles:  Love the quote!  I hope the Graston helps!

Docket:  Sorry to hear you aren't feeling well...hope the rest helps!

Onemile:  Yes, I would definitely do easy miles and sub your race for your tempo.  I am bummed because our April work schedule came out and I have to work the day of Carmel....boo!  I wanted to see you fly by my water station!

Josh:  Glad the PT went well.  That is a tough call for race day clothes.  I would definitely do tights, a couple layers, hat, and gloves.  But, I run cold.

MDawg:  That's very cool!  Nice workout.

Thanks, guys.  I feel a bit better so hopefully I'll get well before the ultra.  If only it was Sunday but it's Saturday so I don't have much time!

                            D- glad you're feeling a little better.

Got my 8 easy done. Didn't do any MP miles. The wind can go away any time now!!!

                              Hey all,

It turns out, I caught my daughter's cold. that explains my lack of motivation today. It probably had something to do with Tues.'s DNF. In any case, I didn't get a run in today and will take tomorrow off too.

What would you wear for a half marathon in 33F, Cloudy, 15mph wind?
