Notes

A long run, and harder than I wanted, so I kept the pace slow. Went to Bear Lake State Park, and conditions underfoot were very taxing indeed, lots of snow still, and crusty ice practically all the way, and when you throw in the brutal wind that had me almost at a standstill, and the swirling spindrift in the wide open sections, you can see why the pace was slow. This was as much about training the will and mind as it was about time on my feet. Calling the run and quitting early was very attractive, but I resisted, and won through! And inspite of the conditions it was soulfully beautiful: the red sunrise gleaming off frozen creek and lake, hundreds of geese gathered around the one spot of open water, the silent cottonwoods, the mule deer jumping away... it wasn't so bad!!!
