Notes

Seems crazy to run in the dark when the weather is so perfect during the day, but hey, you've got to get what you can when you can get it! Went out with two aims: to run for two hours without drink or fuel, to get the body used to going without either, and to run a negative split, to get the body used to picking up the pace. Ran out on the Clear Creek bike path, downhill and downwind, for 7.3 miles, in 53:45 (at 7:22 pace) and it felt very easy indeed. Had a job keeping the pace slow and wasn't even breathing at the turnaround. Pushed hard on the uphill return leg, (450 feet of climbing), and into a horrible, strengthening wind, nearly knocked two deer over in the dark, and ran it in 50:58 (6:59 pace) which wasn't bad at all given the brisk wind and hills. Then, on very tired legs, jogged for a mile and a half, then soaked and stretched in the Rec. Center hot tub. Felt very mellow afterwards. Time for pizza and beer... :-)
