COMMENTS: The route was start between the signs on Kennedy. Left on Kendrick, right on Gaston Day to get the big hill out of the way early. Left on Hoffman and right on Robinwood. Go past Lochshire Lane for 2 minutes and go back to Kendrick. Right on Kendrick to the end then home for a total of 9 miles. Motivation was about 95%. I was excited about keeping up with the runnnig schedule. I had a bagel with P/B and some G-ade before leaving. A little stiff after running on the Greenway yesterday. I have felt stiff after doing the Labor Day race and the fast pace on the Greenway 2 days later. Loosened up by the time I got to Gaston Day Road. About half way down Hoffman I had half a GU (Vanilla Bean, not as good as the Plain) and about 5 ozs of water. Going down Robinwood my knees were complaining a little so I concentrated on form which seemed to help. HR stayed in the hi 130's most of the time until it started to warm up outside and it went in the 140's. Managed the hill ok on Gaston Day and felt strong enough to go down Kendrick. There was more traffic than I had anticipated. So I need to start earlier (its too dark at 6:30) or switch back to Sun morning. Going up Kendrick is more of a challenge. It?s a gradual uphill to the end. Coming back is fun because you can go pretty fast for 2 miles. Made it back to the signs and was surprised at my time. I had predicted it would take about 1 hr, 40 mins. Had an ice bath which felt great. My ankles start to itch after 5 mins so I need to find a way to deal with that. I would like to stay in about 15 mins. Nothing to eat or drink after I finished. Showered and left to coach Leila?s 10:00 soccer game which we won.
