Notes

Not sure what to say about this? Went in feeling great and was flat out cruising through 10 miles. HR was VERY under control, breathing was good and I was ready to roll. Plan was 6:15s for the first two or three miles and then lock in on 6:05 pace to the finish. While I may not have been spot on, I think I was running comfortably and the effort was perfect. Had to take a BIFF break during mile 11, but wasn't worried about it too much. Got right back into my groove.

Then all of a sudden my feet started hurting. From there, the pain moved into my left knee which concerned me quite a bit. For a moment it started to affect my stride and I knew that I was cooked. Seriously considered just dropping, but decided to stick it out and finish. Kept trying to lock onto a 7 minute pace, but the legs just wouldn't cooperate. So, limped it home with the best I could muster. A bit disappointed that I couldn't keep it under three hours.

Looking at the race, I don't think I would do anything differently other than maybe wear a bit more shoe. All of the concrete must have taken too much toll and beat me up quickly. Aerobically, I felt fine! The legs just didn't cooperate. I am really glad that I went for the aggressive goal. Gotta lick my wounds and get my head back together. This race does not define me!!!

Sub 6 minute pace for the marathon is out there. I just have to go get it!!!
