Pretty happy with this race. Was more about competing than going for a time. Tried to get out a little harder than last year, but to not get too close to the red line. Had plenty of competitors around me to key off of.
Most of the race was jousting between Eric Sumner (led me until we headed out on the last loop). I would catch him on the uphills and he would bury me on the downhills. On the last loop, I just started to push it a bit more and ended up putting 12 seconds on him in the last mile or so. Doug Keller and Darrin Diedrich were with me or lurking until we started the second loop and then I started pulling away.
All in all, pleased with how I raced the field. Would have liked to have been a bit faster, but I will take this. Nice to have a negative split too.
Now to hope for low humidity in Tallahassee. HA!!!
