The worst long run ever. The first time I ran twelve this year (2 months ago-ish) was way better than this! I don't know if it was the day, the time, the temperature, my energy level, my motivation level, what. But this run kinda sucked. I just felt sluggish and heavy and tired and bleh. I couldn't get my body to do what I was thinking it should be. Just felt like I wasn't working right.
I did bring my iPhone with me to listen to music, because I didn't want to be alone on this run, it was one of those, I'd love to have a running partner right now, kind of runs so I brought music instead. But all it did was weight me down (literally - the iphone is was too bulky for a long run, what was I thinking?!) and messed up my pace and tempo. I was all off, because music makes me run differently and I'm not as aware of what I'm doing or how I might feel.
Point in case, no more music, and certainly no more iPhone. As for my sluggishness, I blame it on the gradual build up of LA over the last two months of training. I haven't exactly been training properly (at ALL) and not doing the shorter runs in between my longs ones is starting to show. Needless to say, I will need to be making more of an effort to get those shorter runs in.
