I am kind of disappointed with this race outcome because i really wanted to have a solid race to c where my conditioning was going into the marathon. Today was probably 1 to 2 minutes slower than what i thought i was able to run if the temps were closer to what the prediction had said(49 degrees) not 70 degrees at the start. The temps were warm but the humidity was low and the sun had not come out until about half way through the race and then the heat really started slowing me down more than i liked, but it was either slow down or risk blowing up. I am trying to really hard to keep from blowing up in races like i used to do alot. The first mile or 2 felt fairly good and the pace really was'nt over my head for where i've been training. Overall i did give a hard effort but it was skewed when i backed off pushing the effort for miles 3 to 5 then the 6th and beyond i kind of pushed a little harder in spurts because i knew i was getting closer. I did get 2nd in my age group after being outkicked right at the freakin finish line by a guy who i thought was in an younger age group than mine, but not so. My overall place was 17 which was fairly good for having some pretty fast runners in the lead group. It was alot of fun to run this race again and to hang out with my running buddies and buddettes too. If nothing else good came out of today's race at least it motivates me to get back to the grind in training to get faster and stronger. Splits for the race:7:07,7:21,7:32,7:34,7:40,7:33,and 1:25 for .21(6:51 pace)

Solid race during marathon training Shane! Like WK and me were saying, any race during marathon training is just a train-through (not going to feel good) type of effort. Once you taper from all the miles you have been putting in, your going to feel some life come back into your legs for Columbus!

Great seeing you and almost all of the current TTC out there today representing!
