Absolutely great workout tonight! I am beginning to wonder if the pace calibrated correctly w/my Garmin Footpod. I did calibrate it about a month ago with both the sattelites on an run, and along with quarter mile marks designated on the road in KC by a wheel. But the effort feels like 5k pace effort i just can't believe that the HR is staying so low, but the cadence is high on the repeats, but anyway, i guess i'll have to quantify it w/a race in the near future. I did a 2 mile WU(7:58 and 7:43). 4 x 1 mile w/.50 recovery. Splits for the repeats/recovery duration(6:44/4:34; 6:43/4:20; 6:30/5:07; and 6:29/5:14). CD following the 5:14 for .50 was 2 more miles(8:07 and 7:55). Like i said it may b off on the pace, but the repeats definitely felt like the speed of Tuesday night's quarters which were a little slower than tonight's repeats, but the conditions in an air conditioned room and 2 fans blowing were a lot better than Tuesday night's conditions. I did get to run in my new pair of the old Mizuno Wave Precision 12's tonight, and i used my new Pearl Izumi Arm Coolers which helped to keep me cool by my sweat. The more i sweated the cooler the body got. It was pretty cool. Plus my new Ipod(the clip on Nano which gave me some cool and fast music to run to). Most of all i am glad that my toe held up really good. I did visit my family doc today(who is a new racer converted from a jogger). He could not believe the mileage i was running and said that probably contributed to my toe problems. He kinda frowned on running the mileage w/my toe like that but he did'nt firmly tell me i needed to stop. He could not believe me when i told him it really did'nt hurt when i ran either. He just laughed and shaked his head. He gave me an antibiotic and said that should clear it up for me. All in all, very pleased w/the effort tonight w/a lot of miles in the legs, but i have made recovery the top priority and i feel like the easy a.m. runs @ a recovery effort have made the biggest difference. Things r going really well right not.
