Went out intending to do an easy 6, but after a couple days off I felt so good I had to push it. My first mile felt really easy, and I was pondering whether I'd be able to drop 30-40 seconds off it for marathon pace. I passed the mile landmark and was surprised to see 7:10. From there I stepped down gradually: 7:04, 6:52, 6:22, 5:58 for the next four miles, then an 8:00 recovery for the last mile.

It felt good to run like this, and it's interesting to note the difference between running faster and slower than 6:30s. Between 7:00 and 6:30, I feel like I can go for a good long time without really being stressed. As soon as the pace dips under 6:30, I know my time at this pace is going to be limited.
