It hurt, and I came close to aborting in the first half mile. Only the knowledge that it generally gets better kept me going. It didn't get better quickly, and at one point a new pain in the metatarsals brought me up short. I continued, concentrating on relaxing through the pain, and finished what was otherwise a decent run. Encountered a group of three women twice, going and coming.
