Notes

Sunny, very warm, humid. Long run at the Riverlands. Already getting hot by the time I got going. Ran most of the 100 course. Stopped at the picnic table for a second and noticed the river level had dropped a couple feet since last week. Ran down to the river past the mid point aid station location. Stopped and had half a honey stinger waffle. There was a nice cool breeze coming off the water. Ran out to the Bradford loop intersection. Picked up lots of deer flies with my hat. Forgot to put on bug spray before I left, so I got bit a couple times. Kept going out towards Conant road. It was really hilly, so I practiced fast hiking up the steep sections. I was getting pretty hot by this time, so I turned around at the intersection that goes out to Rte. 4. On the way back I stopped at brook to splash my head and my phone fell in the water, not good. It seemed ok though. Once back at the Bradford intersection, I splashed my head again. Headed for the Deer path trail and ate the other half of my waffle on the way. I was really thirsty and energy was low. In the deciduous forsest I caught my left toe on a root and did a superman down to the ground. Landed on my hands and knees pretty hard. Kept going but slower. Seemed like it took a long time to get to the bridge. I stopped there to cool off and have a GU to try to pick up my energy. I knew I was too dehydrated to do another 3 miles so I walked/ran out the main trail. Then I ran/walked back to the car. Down a whole bottle of water pretty quickly. It was pretty hot by this time. Other than being really dehydrated everything else was ok. I stopped at Angello's to buy a gatorade, which tasted great. I need to figure out how to get more water out there for longer runs.
