Notes
Sounds like a great name for a race, right? For the second straight day, my timing has been horrible. When I left home to drive to the Centennial Trail trailhead in Snohomish, it wasn't raining a drop. Once I got to about mile 2, it was raining lightly. Shortly after that, a monsoon akin to yesterday's lovely weather returned. The bad thing about doing an out-and-back run is that you've pretty much committed yourself to double the distance you go out (unless you hitch-hike or find some kind of teleportation device.)
I had planned on keeping the pace pretty moderate - 8:30/mile or slower. Instead, here's what happened:
33:34 out (8:24/mile average)
29:26 back (7:21/mile average, including 7:16 final mile)
While it's nice to be able to run that pace late in an 8-miler once again, it wasn't fun doing it out of necessity...with my shirt and shorts glued to my body. I could barely remove my shirt once I got back to my truck, let alone unlock the door.
Anyway, miles in the bank, with a nice negative split to boot. Oh—and I don't have to take an ice bath, since I took one during the run ;-)
