Booyah!
Actually just looked, at it's narrowest point, MD is 1.8 miles. So you can run across the state in under 20 minutes.
LOL, everyones a smart aleck. it would be a 2hr drive to run less than 2 miles.
You don't run across your state the shortest distance possible, what kind of challenge is that??
I would start west and go due east across the top of the state which is rural. When i hit DEL go due south along eastern shore which is also rural.Go east when i hit Salisbury, on to O.C. and a dip in the ocean, no bay crossing needed that way.The only way to cross the Chesapeake Bay is the heavily traveled Bay Bridge,so i would probably need a police escort for that (Or take my chances....).
Maybe when i retire or get laid off or something.
PR's:

Just a dude.
I would love to run across my state and document it. Maryland is a smaller state, if i took the less traveled, safer, more scenic route i'm looking at about 400m miles. If i did 20m per day i'm thinking at least 3 weeks if all goes well. I don't think i could get off work for 3 weeks in a row. Then there is the question of logistics, i would want to stay in hotels. Anyone ever run across their state --i'd love to hear about it.

Hmmm... I live in Nevada. East West the most direct route would probably be Highway 50 at 406 miles. I could run all but maybe 10 miles right on the highway. North/South would be Highway 93, which is surprisingly direct at 552 miles. I could run on the highway the whole way except through Las Vegas. So maybe 20-30 miles on an alternate route.
Neither one looks particularly easy. Both have long stretches (50+ miles) of absolutely nothing. No hotel, no gas station, no house. Nothing but sagebrush... It would be quite the challenge.
I know there are a few people who bike stretches of Highway 50. Running it would need a full time support person I think. I am shocked your course through Maryland is as wide as Nevada... The road must wind a ton...-Kelly
Getting back in shape... Just need it to be a skinnier shape...
I want to break my mile and 5k PR's, I'm 37, set those at 22yo?
I ran those PR's without having trained for distance however, although I'm currently way slower, and just getting back into running, but I'm hoping in 3-4 months to hopefully be well trained and ready to break some PR's, I think my 5k is certainly breakable, and beyond that a sub 20min 5k would be a lofty goal.
Personally I have more interest in running faster mile and 5k than ever running a fast 10k, half mara, or mara, but who knows down the road, perhaps I'll want to run those.
300m- 37 sec.
