Running Ahead not detecting my GPS device (Read 153 times)

Zamor

    Hello;

    I plugged my GPS watch to my computer, as I always do and Runnung Ahead didn't detect the GPS device.

    Here is the log:

    Seaching for GarminNetscapePlugin

    found GarminNetscapePlugin

    Plugin version: 4.1.0.0

    Unlocked plugin

    Status: Detecting GPS...

    plugin.finishFindDevices() completed

    Status: No connected GPS device.

    My OS is Windows 7, Premium Family Edition

    My browser is Firefox 36.0.4

    I have tried the following and it is still not working:

    - unplugging and replugging the GPS device

    - Logging out and back in

    - Cleaning the connectors

    Thanks for your help.

    eric :)

      Hi mamor,

      Which GPS model do you have?

        Hi Eric;

        I have the Garmin Forerunner 305.

        Thanks :-)

          I had this problem earlier this week.  I'm using Chrome, and it seems the latest update meant that the plugin was being blocked.  Check the little block thingy in the browser -- you might have to give it permission to launch the plugin again.  (I have a 110)

            Hi mamor,

            Try cleaning the contacts on the back of the GPS with some dish soap and water.  Even though the GPS can charge, dirty contacts prevent the computer from properly detecting it.

              There is one other possibility. I noticed that my Forerunner 205 is not detected if it is plugged into a USB 3.0 port (blue USB port). It works fine in the USB 2 ports. I inadvertently did this and made this discovery wondering why, oh why I could not download my 205 data.

                Hi Eric;

                Tried it... still the same result :-(

                Thanks

                  Hi embee;

                  Not sure what you are talking about. What block thingy?

                  Thanks

                    Sorry, was way too tired to be typing when I wrote that.

                    I'm using Chrome, and when Chrome blocks a plug-in, a small red X appears up in the URL bar.  Clicking on that brings up a dialogue box which asks whether to continue blocking the plug-in or to permit it.  I just had to tell it to "always allow" runningahead to access the plugin and that solved the problem.

                      Hello emmbee;

                      I use Firefox... but what I did is I deactivated the Garmin Communicator extension for Firefox, and then I reactivated it.

                      Seems to be working now.

                      I'm not really sure this was the problem, as the Garmin Communicator extension was activated all the time.

                      Anyways, thanks for your help ;-)

                          Having a similar issue. My watch is brand new, so maybe you all know what to do in this situation. I'm using the latest version of Internet Explorer on Windows 8.1.

                          It seems like RA "sees" my watch, but considers it is a non-GPS device.

                          Here's what the message says:

                          Searching for GarminActiveXControl

                          found GarminActiveXControl

                          Plugin version: 4.2.0.0

                          Unlocked plugin

                          Status: Detecting GPS...

                          plugin.finishFindDevices() completed

                          Ignored non-GPS device "Forerunner 610 (Unit ID 3881539987)"

                          Status: No connected GPS device

                          It uploads just fine to Garmin, so it interacts correctly with my computer.

                          Thanks in advance
