My wife makes me take copious amounts of vitamins c tablets when I get sick. I worry that I will take on an orange glow like Donald Trump

Zinc tablets may not help if you already get enough zinc through your diet but I don't, so I take 2 a day. I've definitely noticed my colds are shorter and not as severe since I started. It's no magic cure but it boosts the immune system. I haven't had a cold bad enough to stop me running at least easy pace for a few years*
*Hoping saying this doesn't have the same impact as saying to you on the day of the ChCh marathon that I'd had a good injury free run.

You will have lovely skin too Steve
Also very important
Cheers Steve. My diet is reasonable but not great (there is normally a bit of junk food and at least one takeaway night each week, hell I see that as one of the side benefits of running 80+km/week!!). I do take a multivitamin as well, so I am probably getting enough zinc, at least if the RDI is anything to go by.

"CONSISTENCY IS KING"
I normally run with head colds but this one feels chesty and I've no energy.
Mark friday is our takeaways night. I've been having rice and Thai cashew stir fry which probably isn't the worst takeaways and my daughter works there tonight.
Yeah it's not a bad option in the overall scheme of things, just a bit high in sodium. We normally have Thai Friday night and Macca's Saturday night (I never feel guilty because I run it off on Sunday morning!).
Mark I ended up with Butter Chicken
I'm terrible with salt though grinding copious amounts of sea salt on my meals. Eating alot less meat now as my wife and son are vegetarian.
RIP Milkman
I used to worry about salt a lot too, but recent research is that you shouldn't care about it unless you have high blood pressure. Then again, we all know how medical advice changes constantly: there was some huge study done recently that red meat actually isn't bad for you.
I'm in the piwi boat in general though: I eat a lot less meat in general than I used to, although not vegetarian by any measure. I also tend to be feast or famine with my diet: I will be super healthy for a meal, like a salad with only other fruits or veggies as ingredients, but then I'll have a hamburger and fries for dinner.
Hey - I burn 8k calories a week now running, I think it's okay to eat some crap as long as you are still getting your fruits and veggies in meals

I'm at 2145 km / 1333 miles for the year. Which isn't great. But better than last year. And I should hopefully beat 2017 too.
Yeah, salt isn't that bad. Key things to watch out for are sugar which is everywhere, and deep fried.

Watson does Strava show my mileage to date so far this year or do I have to pay for that ?
I picked up another pair of zante pursuits from Rebels $99.
Jmac I can hear my mother saying " everything in moderation "
I slept better last night and tried a slow 6 miles this morning with no bad effects. I should still be able to hit 30 miles this week even with 2 sick days.
It's ok I found it 1979 kms for me so far 1230 miles. Not great but ok considering my motivation swings.
Works out at an even 30 mpw which is good for a hobby jogger
Damn right!!

Jmac - Cause I never had the flu shot before. I figured if it Ain’t broke then Don’t fix it.
But this year my stomach has gone radioactive on me so I have no choice
Brazil is kind of like the US, your mileage varies hugely depending on where you live.
Also eating crap will probably not result in weight gain (due to your superior genetics) but it might still mean stomach issues
Steve - Propolis used to be my "zinc". I'm now taking stomach medication and my immune system has thankfully not dipped as much.
Piwi - you can glow my friend, just go to the local tanning salon. I can't wait to see you in orange.
By the way, if you eat too little meat you have to supplement with B12 and some other stuff.
me - I'm trailing you guys at 1711km, so I might not have enough to qualify as a hobby jogger.
All this talking about food hmmmmm.
I eat meat. I'm against the inhuman treatment of plants
By the way after spending September off the pastries and sweets, I took the first 5 days of October as a short vacation where I ate a lb of sweets per day. I'm now again off the pastries and sweets for the rest of the month.
I mostly typed this because it's been a while since I complained about weight loss.
