        Plopping someone who isn't used to sprinting onto a fast-moving treadmill is stupid, dangerous, and serves no useful purpose from a standpoint of weight loss. Like I said earlier, 14mph is a 64-second quarter, and a 32-second 200m. That's sprinting for most people.
        32 seconds is almost exactly what my 200 time was in HS...when I was scrawny and training specifically for that distance. Even then I was very average, but I was still in good physical shape and not overweight. I think I'd be hard pressed to run that fast now, and I'm not obese (though maybe if I were 10-15#s lighter I could get close). When I was 50#s heavier and not as fit as I am now I think that sort of effort would have made for a very bad ending, indeed.

        Getting the wind knocked out of you is the only way to

        remind your lungs how much they like the taste of air.
