Good Bad & The Monkey
I'm running somewhere tomorrow. It's going to be beautiful. I can't wait.
Poor baby
1 month remaining in the study:
Goal:
Test hydration fluids on running performance in the heat!
Why this is important to you:
When weather conditions are hot, endurance performance tends to suffer. This is your chance to help test a fluid that could keep your running performance from melting under the summer sun.
What it’ll take:
3 days of testing (1 hour, 3.5 hours, 3.5 hours) each separated by approximately 1 week
• 1st day o a VO2max test with ECG (similar to a stress test done at a hospital) o measurement of your percent body fat
• 2nd day o Drink water that may or may not be mixed with glycerol
o Run like you were racing for 1 hour at 87° F
• 3rd day o Same as the 2nd day
What you’ll get out of it: • A free VO2max test with training paces based on the results • Determination of your percent body fat • Information on your sweat rate for hot conditions • Recommendations for fluid intake during racing • New knowledge of how well glycerol works in improving your performance in hot weather
You must meet certain subject criteria.

One day at a time
I've heard that water can be used as a hydration fluid. Has anyone tried this?
I think I'd choke if I tried that approach.
Just spit, don't swallow. Good enough for you Jim?
Just spit, don't swallow.
Now that would really mess up this 'study'.
The process is the goal.
