I find recovery from HMs to be much more straightforward than from marathons. Personally I would not worry about doing them three weeks apart, but I guess it depends on how well you feel you recover. I guess part of it is how often you do that kind of distance normally in training.

My last half marathon I recovered pretty quick and was doing 800s 2-3 days later at fast clip.

Add me to the list and this thread... i have never run a half-marathon, but I just broke my Sub-20 5K goal on 12/8 with a 19:45 on a course with hills, then again the following weekend with a 19:09 on a fairly flat course. Hopefully I will get a Sub-40 10K and Sub-1:30 HM in 2013.

I ran 19:04 5k and 1:28:55 half in the same month, so you should get there. I have yet to pop the sub-40 10k cherry though.

Jedi, can you please add me to the list?

I am running the 13.1 Marathon (unfortunately named) in Flushing Meadows Park, in Queens, on March 23rd. Taking my first shot at sub 1:30 there.

Does anyone have a link to a good 10 week training plan online? Or is there a training plan forum on this website? Sorry, I am new to forums, not really sure how to navigate. Thanks.

Welcome to the thread flyrunner and B-Plus. Schedule updated.

              D - nice job on the 10k

Matty - I'll have to check that race out as i am from Long Island originally.

Decent week for me last week even with fighting a cold. Took an add'l RD to combat it some which resulted in bailing on some intervals. I got in some good cruise intervals in on Sat though. 5x1m w/1min recoveries at a 7:10 avg pace. First couple tad too fast and last one ran out of gas. Overall i was happy with run as it's been awhile since i did that kind of quality. Think I am in good shape for my HM in 9 weeks though.

10 mile tempo run Sunday on the indoor  track at 6:50 pace, too bad I can't run that fast outdoors in the snow and cold air... Hopefully the weather is warmer for my March HM. 60 miles last week for me, a new personal lifetime high, so I'm starting to feel more confident about getting back to a sub-1:30 half by March 2nd.

Sorry for the delay in posting.

It was a good race but I ended up robbed of the sub-90.  Chip time was 1:30:53 but I lost 61 seconds due to an emergency bathroom stop (#2) and had to slow down in the last mile for the same reason.  Moving time was 1:29:52 and in my mind, I know I did it but also know that I cannot count it officially.

                      Mile: 5:18,   5K: 19:09,  10K: 39:44,  Half: 1:28:12,  Full: 3:21:56

Justin, Good effort and you were robbed of a sub-1:30 half, for sure. But you're "there" already so just pick another race and keep training and you'll demolish this goal next time.

I did a 13.12 mile long run today, outside, 35 degrees and cloudy grey skies, and it just re-confirmed for me how much I dislike running outdoors in cold weather. I managed 1:34:40, but had a good tailwind out and the corresponding headwind back, and it was miserable running that far into a cold headwind.  And now I'm feeling grumpy and need a nap... On a more positive note, I've just been informed that  fresh home-baked bread has just now come out of the oven and I am allowed to cut into it at my leisure... Approve

.. I lost 61 seconds due to an emergency bathroom stop (#2) ...

Only 61 seconds is pretty speedy Smile
