running a marathon imposes major trauma and near exhaustion to the fit and healthy, and can cause severe injury for the medically unprepared.”
nice work -- congrats on the PR.
OMG Tony! I LMAO in nearly every paragraph!! That was an awesome report. I felt all the same as you did for sure. All the mental crap is the same no matter the time. Congratulations on such a huge PR! ...and not giving in! That is racing btw.
Yes, your last 6 were a little slower... but there were some miles before that which were also a bit faster than your first half, and I see a 1:57/1:57 split. It is pretty hard to get clock-even miles and Rocket City has some roly poly bits (it is flat as compared to other stuff in Huntsville). You ran a pretty darned good race! A 14 minute PR and your first half was as even to your second half as you can get. That's good stuff. And although I haven't been to Rocket City in four years, it's good to see that the RD is still doing that legal disclaimer stuff at the beginning. I bet the booklet they sent you also has some of that in there too. I've never been to another marathon where the org has been so fascinated and "helpful" with the risks of running a marathon.
That soon after Monkey definitely makes it a Lombardi-worthy effort, way to make sure you left NOTHING on the course. My hat's off to you Tony, great job.
Great job on the PR Tony, and a great report, too!
