I think it is important to highlight the difference between what the pro runners in this article are advocating in terms of "becoming a morning person" vs what most of us here consider to be "becoming a morning runner". In their world, this means getting up at 5:00-5:30am so that their body is ready to do good workouts at 7:30am (this was in one of their comments).
If you can, become a morning. Being a morning person will give you extra time for workouts, stretching, breakfast, et cetera.
Great point, but also pay attention to the fact that one of the largest benefits of getting up early is so that you have time to eat a good breakfast, as well, and not just rush out the door 15 minutes after you wake up. I think you missed my point. I and most others are not rushing out the door 15min after we wake up because we don't value a good breakfast and being fully awake for our workouts. We do it because that is the only way we can get that morning run in. You can only get up so early before it becomes impossible to get in enough sleep -- that's the curse we deal with.
