A boy's gotta eat. I got tired of Capn Crunch.
Pop Tarts. You can even sautee them in olive oil.

Confused Where and how do Pop Tarts fit in the "Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants" mantra? Aren't they "food"?

Forget Wheaties. I guarantee you that Pop Tarts are the breakfast of champions. Pop Tarts are plant based too. Except the liver ones. I hate those.

Ick...that is worse than deep frying a twinkie. I liked pop tarts back when you could get more than 1 flavor without frosting. I hate frosting. Tired of strawberry. I don't pan/deep fry foods, so I use EVOO for almost everything, except baked goods because I dont think the taste works in all baked goods. But I always add the oil to the food, not to the pan. It doesnt get hotspots that way.

What baked goods does olive oil work in? I never thought about using for bread... hmmm... I don't think I want olive oil pie crust. And olive cookies suck.

It works well in Italian and French bread as well as pizza crusts. I use it for all 3.

Actually, olive oil works very very well in many pie crusts, especially savory pies. It goes great in many bread recipes. There are several classic cookies that have olive oil (and cornmeal) in them. For real.

I don't eat 'savory pie'. I'm all about sweet fruit, man. (don't get me started on mincemeat, though. <shudder>) I make wonderful lemon cornmeal cookies. But not with olive oil. I also have several old cookbooks I scored from my Texas stepfamily. Another classic ingredient is good ol' lard. Nah. Pop Tarts are where it's at. edited to add: hey, cool. Quiche? Try an apricot or peach tart made in an olive oil and almond crust.

<really> ? I have an apple pie crust recipe I want to try that uses an EVOO/butter mix And if you dont like classic quiche I have a killer green apple/sweet onion /sharp cheddar tart that is awesome. What EVOO doesnt work well with is mild flavored sweets - like a plain yellow cake or blueberry muffin. Regular olive oil would probably do ok, but I dont like the EVOO flavor in mild sweets. MTA: cool that the tag is closed Tongue</really>

That's funny, I don't like the frosting either. My wife thinks I am crazy for preferring the ones with no frosting. She'll give me the "edges" off of her frosted ones (on the rare occasion we actually have pop tarts.)

Toaster Strudel all the way...although I only really prefer the wildberry...who can go wrong with blue frosting?
