JMac - So all this time you've been running in the original VF's?! The Next is definitely different although I didn't find it to be as different as some. Anyways good luck.
Flavio - I have seen pull up bars that hang off the back of the door (no drilling needed), just like James describes.
James - "within a month"... that seems like a pretty slow acting anti-inflammatory! Hope it does the job.
Me - Some serious spring weather around at the moment, rain doesn't really bother me but it's been consistently windy as well. Luckily that looks set to improve next week.

"CONSISTENCY IS KING"
Mmmm Bop
Wrong, I actually showed up a page or two before that after reading Flavio's race report, then I think there was some discussion about the prevalence of the Next% in Tokyo. And yes. I had a fractured knee cap and a ruptured patellar tendon that I spent 12 months rehabbing. Still got two pins in the top of my knee. Bike, elliptical, rower, treadmill, used them all. A lot. Two medical professionals who know a lot more about biomechanics than me told the elliptical is "functionally useless". That's not the same as actually useless. It's fine for low-impact cardio it just doesn't actually replicate any natural movements whatsoever. Don't take it personally. Honestly, showing up on this thread and throwing insults around (again) and "I told you so's" and telling people to 'stfu' is weak. I don't know what your problem is but feel free to stop trashing this thread for the others that enjoy it and contribute positively.

I think you need to chill out buddy, my original post was just an observation...and I’m usually right.
The elliptical has been a HUGE help for me personally when I’ve had to cross train with niggles during marathon training....I’m a marathoner so maybe you don’t get what I’m saying. 😳
5k - 17:53 (4/19) 10k - 37:53 (11/18) Half - 1:23:18 (4/19) Full - 2:50:43 (4/19)
I will log my week which is pathetic but what I've been running the last 5 weeks plus I want to keep the peace between Mikkey and Mark. The banter is good it means you both have high testosterone levels
Mark nice week. I somehow timed one of my morning runs during a horrendous downpour and these easterlies are annoying this weekend too.
Shoutout to Jmac good luck in the half. Those next % are very nice I think you will find.
I went to the gym with my 15yr old yesterday as he is a member and wanted me to have a look. I paid a casual fee and did the circuit with him which includes about 15 machines. So I'm a little sore today 🙃

Somewhere in between is about right "
James - you're doing OK. The swimming and pool running will help with general fitness. I'm going to take a pass on whether it's functional.
Mark - nice week.
Piwi - good maintanance.
My week was good.

Thread was perfectly chill until you showed up. Again, if you've got some sort of problem with me, no need to trash this thread just because you've got a chip on your shoulder.
You are a funny bunny who gets riled easily.
I’m amazed you chose running as a hobby given the amount of time your foot spends in your mouth.
I hope Darkwave went to watch NZ vs USA in the rugby last night in Washington 104 to 14
I’m looking forward to your next half marathon race report and really hope the course is the correct distance. (I think Stevie Wonder must measure the NZ courses.)
Good luck buddy. 👍
Hot Weather Complainer
Sigh. Let’s move on.
So I have a previous history of getting a bit seasick, nothing crazy, but enough to not love boats. My partner was very keen to go whale watching, and even said she’d go it alone but I said that was silly ‘how bad can it be’. The answer to that question is worse than you can imagine.
We’d been out for about 30 mins, I took a couple of anti-nausea pills before we went, and while the swells were large, I was keeping my plan of focusing on the horizon and felt fine. Then I start feeling warm in a bad way and feel mild nausea. No problem I think. Within 2 minutes, I realise I’m in trouble. I lean over the rail because I think I’m going to be sick but instead, my vision slowly disappears and before I know it I’m on the deck. My partner tells me later I went down, got up then went down again straight away, this time smacking my jaw on the rail. I made my way inside and sat down for the next hour which was pure hell. Sweat was coming off me in torrents, and I overheard one of the crew telling the captain they’d monitor me and we didn’t need to return to shore yet. It never occurred to me they’d end the trip early.
I somehow survived one of the worst experiences ever. We saw a whale for a split second incidentally. I can hardly keep my eyes open now. I’m going to try and avoid boats for the rest of my life. It’s provided great hilarity to my mates. I felt quite embarrassed but that moment when I slowly blacked out was quite scary. I feel perfectly fine now, except the exhaustion.

Damn Steve thats scary. Worst sea sickness I've heard of.
A couple years ago we were in Australia and my wife had a voucher for 2 for whale watching and I said you go with one of our kids. Anyway they both got sea sick and didn't get close to the whales. Next day we were playing on the rocks at the beach and several whales came within50m
Haha piwi, that’s gold.
I actually do still have quite a swollen jaw and it hurts to eat, but that’s way more bearable than the nausea.
Steve - Yikes that sounds horrific! Unfortunately I doubt you’ll ever hear the end of that from your mates. Sounds like it might be a useful one to remember to put race pain into context (or perhaps you’d rather just delete it from your memory completely).
Piwi- if you’re enjoying it that’s the main thing. Mileage isn’t everything. Weirdly the last time I saw whales was in Australia too. I went for an unplanned run around Noosa Heads on the last morning of our trip and saw them jumping offshore, it was pretty cool.
Watson - good week and nice long run. Hopefully your weather was better than mine.
Weather was very good this week, a bit humdid today, a bit windy on the Friday run, but the other runs were almost ideal.
Steve - I hope you are OK. I went whale watching in Kaikoura in 2018, and had minor nausea, there was one person who got really sick, but they didn't turn back. I lived in Kaikoura until I was 8 years old.
Mark - I definitely won’t want to think about this during a race!
watson - Thanks, yeah I’m all good now. So weird that my brain stepped in and blacked out at that point. If only it had done that until I got back to shore. Kaikoura would have been an awesome place as a kid.
