Mark - awesome week.
James - good week.
Piwi - nice week. Sorry your race probably won't happen in two weeks.
My week was good. Biggest week this year. Also ran in five different shoes this week, which is definitely a personal record!

I was planning to run a 5k dust buster on Sep 6th. I had hoped the park runs would be back but no luck on that front.
There are some races, but no 5k and a lot of the races listed are actually cancelled.
There is a 5K race the weekend before (28th), however it's one of those where people will start every 20 seconds and it will be in a warm afternoon.
I'd rather run solo at 6am, at the coolest part of the day.
me - roughly 46 miles, some good progress with excellent workouts. I also bid farewell to my beloved Altra Duos, I've got to purchase a new pair online and hope Altra didn't mess it up in the new version.
PRs: 1500 4:54.1 2019 - 5K 17:53 2023 - 10K 37:55 2023 - HM 1:21:59 2021
Up next: some 800m race (or time trials) / Also place in the top 20% in a trail race

Flavio - those are some really solid/longer workouts. Your looking strong already.
Mark solid week as always
James - solid recovery week. I'm a bit torn as to your comment about AG awards. I like when more people get awards but you're right the overall people have earned them. I'm not really invested in the answer either way. It's like when my 7 mile trail race showed 6.91 on my watch, it was a fun race and I don't need the hardware to remember it.
Watson - big week & a good race. Stellar.
I've personally been getting a bit introspective and mopey so I need to change my attitude. On the running front my short term goal is to re-establish my habit of running 6 days/ week. Step 2 is to rebuild mileage as I've been yo-yoing from big weeks to tiny weeks lately and this was the smallest week of them all
20 easy miles over 4 runs, 5 days of chainsaw work / log lifting. Many night of 9-10 hours sleep and still feeling sore in the morning but RHR stayed where it's supposed to be. All the downed trees made my trails unrunnable and getting back on the roads my easy pace went from 9:30+ down to 8:30 with the HR staying solidly in Z2 so that's a nice data point.
1600 - 5:23 (2018), 5k - 19:33 (2018), 10k - 41:20 (2021), half - 1:38:57 (2018), Marathon - 3:37:17 (2018)

Watson - Great job!
Mark - Record week, wahoo! Bummer about Maunganui being pushed back.
Flavio - Good week. I never liked the Duo, myself. All the rocks getting stuck in the grooves on the sole scratching with every step just annoyed the heck out of me.
Not my greatest week ever. Blew up in the heat/humidity on my Friday workout, then again after mile 11 during my LR. Still felt that in my legs this morning. At least this week is supposed to be a good deal cooler. Which is also nice because my A/C died (R22 coolant leak, stuff that isn't made any longer) on Saturday afternoon. Luckily we already had it scheduled to be replaced today as the fan motor was also about to go. Unfortunately, the old guy who runs the little family company we are doing this with hurt himself over the weekend, but he's at least seeing if his son can squeeze us in.

OKC Memorial 5k - April 27
Bun Run 5k - May 4
Wahoo! The house is now cooling down from a peak of 83F/23C. I sure appreciate it, and I'm sure DDs 1 & 2 will as well when they get back from soccer practice.

Thanks - I quickly glanced and thought 23 C is not that warm.
Wellington marathon is still aiming for 30 August, they are betting on Wellington being level 1 at that point. I think it is 50/50 right now. I am not running it, but I know a few doing it (shorter races than the marathon).
Watson - well done getting a race AND a record week for the year all in one. Re Wellington Marathon, I'm not surprised they're holding out. There's a realistic chance that Wellington is at Level 1 then, and I suspect they don't have another reserve date, so they may as well try.
Flavio - nice week and good luck with the new shoes.
Zebano- motivation is a bit tough at the moment with uncertainty over races. Envious of your 9-10 hours sleep a night!
Keen - I was hopeful of pipping your weekly mileage total maybe just once but... not this week. Nice job! Aircon is essential for you guys... our new house has two heat pumps and they get more use from me in summer than winter!

Watson - that's pretty amusing about the different pairs of shoes!
Flavio - I got a note recently from our park runs describing the protocols for when park runs would return. So perhaps a light at the end of the tunnel?
Zebano - chainsaw work is solid cross training.
CK - so glad you got the AC fixed!
My week:
48 miles, 17 "miles" of pool-running.M: 5.5 "miles" of pool-running and upper body weights/core.T: 12 miles, including 6 Iwo Jima hill repeats (about 2:00 up, 90 second easy jog, 30 second stride, and 80 second jog to bottom of hill). Followed with leg strengthwork and streaming yoga.W: 5 miles very easy on treadmill (9:50), streaming yoga, and 7 miles easy (9:11) plus drills and two stridesTh: upper body weights/core and 6 "miles" of pool-runningF: 12 miles, including 5x 4 minutes on, 3 minutes jog. (paces for on were 6:28-6:46 ish according to Garmin), full rest and then 6x30 seconds on, 30 seconds jog. Followed with leg strengthwork and streaming yoga.Sa: 12 miles very easy (9:17), plus drills, four hill strides. Streaming yoga class in afternoon.Su: upper body weights/core, streaming yoga, and 5.5 "miles" of pool-running.
Increased the pace slightly on the Tuesday and Friday runs to test out the hamstring some more, which held up. I skipped a Sunday long run because I'm planning on racing a road mile on Wednesday (tomorrow) evening. Yesterday morning I played a bit with some 200s on the road at mile effort, and the hamstring held for those, so I think we're on (assuming no thunderstorms and the race goes off).
Everyone's gotta running blog; I'm the only one with a POOL-RUNNING blog.
And...if you want a running Instagram where all the pictures are of cats, I've got you covered.
Yeah, I somehow fat-fingered "28.3" to "23". Nice catch, Longboat.
Watson - Your "23 C is not that warm" brings up my biggest issue with the Celsius scale - lack of resolution. A mere 5* (from the perspective of someone who uses Fahrenheit) being such a big swing in temperature just makes the whole system seem imprecise without going out to tenths of a degree.
Turns out the A/C didn't stay fixed - the motor for the blower in the attic/furnace unit that circulates air gave up the ghost within a couple hours of the A/C being replaced. Fortunately it got cool enough last night to make opening some windows an option for cooling the house, and the A/C guy came back out and replaced that motor early this morning. Didn't even charge us for the part, which was awfully nice of him, and the house is nicely cool now!
I've had one more 5k (and the rodeo it was paired with) get cancelled - this one in a small city ~90 miles from OKC. This is a bit surprising to me since the entire county this city is in has had a whopping 101 cases since this thing started.
DWave - Good luck in the mile tomorrow!
Keen, that is really lucky! We had AC trouble earlier this year and the AC guy wanted $80 up front just to look at it. We opted to just do some googling and replace a couple capacitors that other people had problems with and related to starting the fan. Thankfully that got the job done for $35 but it was a warm couple days while we waited for parts.
DarkWave - good luck with the race! That's awesome you get some competition in and the hamstring holds up.
Flavio - saying goodbye to shoes is surprisingly emotional sometimes isn't it ? or maybe that's just me. 6AM is the time to run you're right on that.
Keen - LOL yeah, the little pebbles getting stuck on the sole weren’t the best part.
That was one shoe that took me a while to get used to, but they were excellent.
Good job by running those 4km on Sunday so Mark couldn’t pipe you LOL
Your issue with the Celsius scale is adorable.
I actually saw a video this week about how the UK, the US and Canada pretended they were switching to metric (and mostly use metric where it counts), but kept using imperial units for the daily stuff.
Thankfully we still count time the same way.
Darkwave - Yeah I saw that one. Unfortunately, the park run manager sure want to be extra careful to avoid any bad press.
Zebano - My wife was mocking me when I was taking the pictures haha, it sure felt bad having to throw them in the bin, those are the ones I ran my half PR. I wish I could have them on a pedestal somewhere.
Shoes - After getting my order at Altrarunning.eu cancelled twice with no given reason and no notification email, I've instead gone to the local running store and bought a pair of Altra Escalante Racers Boston 20 edition.
They are beautiful, it was love at first sight. Perfect fit for my duck feet. Very stable, I think I'm gonna have some great workouts with these shoes. I'll try them out on Thursday and report back.
Flavio - The Escalante Racers are really nice - I set my marathon PR in them.
Funny small town story because it's slow here:
The A/C guy came to my front door to ask me to turn the fan on so he could check some final things. Just after he asked me to do that he looked down and saw my running shoes which were on the porch to dry after that morning's workout. He got a somewhat surprised look on his face and proclaimed "You're the guy I see running all over town every morning, aren't you?!"
Keen you definitely rack up the miles and no doubt locally will be known as running guy !
Flavio I've never tried Altra. They are zero drop right ?
Doesnt that play havoc with your Achilles?
Darkwave nice week and good to hear you have some racing type stuff coming up. I must try one of these mile things one day
Zebano I too had to have that talk with myself. Got to keep focused!
I've managed to get back to 5.30am out the door runs again this week. Had a stern talk to myself and dont want to waste the fitness base I've worked hard for over the last 3 months.
