Thanks Jmac
$187 US=
$310 NZ
$30 freight
Also possible GST at 15 % on too.
I can get the Takumi sens for half that and I like the more traditional style of those
Piwi - you should consider getting an old pair of the vaporfly flyknit. That's what I run in. Yeah, they're 2 versions old now, but still amazing. At least in the USA, they're about 50% off right now on Nike.com

Piwi - just FYI that is pre-sale price, it's basically on double sale, so it would be $140 US, which is a steal if they have your size.
However, Takumi Sen at half price is also great.

Cheers Jmac I would need permission from my wife
Happy birthday Mark 39 today
Thanks Piwi. Can't say I've ever had a birthday in Level 4 Lockdown before but given it often seems to be around Easter time, I'm kind of used to everything being shut on my birthday haha.
My birthday present to myself was a sneaky track session this morning. I didn't count laps but ran 17km, allowing for the fact my GPS overshoots on the track I was probably actually pretty close to 39 laps (1 per year).

Good work Mark. You will be the fastest 40 year old in NZ next year I reckon.
I see some 50 yr old ex Kiwi is breaking loads of running records. Has a sub 15 5000m etc. Have you heard of him ?

More looking into the Takumi Sen 6 reveals a 5mm drop and 6.9 oz shoe. This is quite different from version 5 which was 9mm drop and 6.0 oz.
Apparently Nick Willis uses old versions of this shoe in the 5th Ave Mile.
I'm not keen on lower than 6mm drop and a weight not far removed from my Zantes at 7.4oz
Piwi - there limited sizes of v5 on probikekit.co.nz for $NZ 144.49. Sizes US 7.5, 8.5, 9.5, 10.5, 11.5. I need to be 0.5 smaller in Adidas, e.g. My Zante Pursuit are US 11.5, my Adidas Solar Glide is US 11, both are the right size.
PRs: 5km 18:43 (Dec 2015), 10km 39:59 (Sep 2020), half 1:26:16 (Sep 2016), full 3:09:28 (Jun 2015)
40+ PRs: 5km 19:31 (Oct 2020), 10km 39:59 (Sep 2020), half 1:29:39 (Jun 2018), full 3:13:55 (Sep 2022)
2023 PRs (hope to beat in 2024): 5km 20:34, 10km 41:37, half 1:32:32, full 3:21:05
2024 PRs: 5km 20:25
Watson thanks I saw that site and read some reviews and they seem trustworthy.
I have been caught out with Adidas sizing before as I use UK9 US10 in Nike which is UK 9.5 and US10 in Adidas.
I just ordered the Takumi sen 5 from RW in Australia in size US10 for $144 inc freight. I may have used a dodgy discount code for 15% off
Watson - I always find Adidas very narrow relative to other shoes, they're made for stick figures. I'm 12 or 12.5 in most, would easily be 13 in those.
Piwi - interesting article, no I haven't heard of that guy. Incredible pace at that age. Weirdly he's not on the Athletics NZ Rankings page.

Sean Wade's pretty well known in the US, and particularly in the Houston area. That's an old article though (2016). I think he's been in the US since the '90's. Athletics NZ's probably fogotten about him.

Hi Longboat I see he was an Olympic marathoner so pretty decent but now seems more suited to shorter distance. Anyway we will claim him back as a Kiwi now
Well Iowa isn't doing much of anything to prevent the disease from spreading. I'm just glad our population is relatively small. Sigh. I can't imagine those shoe prices in New Zealand. It might be worth reimporting your masters guy just for the shoes on his feet =)
In other news I woke up yesterday barely able to walk. My lower back on the left side was clenched so tight just walking down the hall was painful. I have no idea if it happened while I was sleeping or it's related to running and maybe my workout on Tuedays… I was sore in the legs but not the back when I went to bed so … I'm 80% better today and just ran outside to get the garbage to the curb before the truck came to collect it =). I'll probably take a second day off and try rolling it out again (that was too painful yesterday). grr.
1600 - 5:23 (2018), 5k - 19:33 (2018), 10k - 41:20 (2021), half - 1:38:57 (2018), Marathon - 3:37:17 (2018)
3 months til Masters
If you figure out the back thing let me know. I've had the same thing same side for about a week, week and a half. I am taking unhealthy amounts of ibuprofen and lots of foam rolling and stretching.

Well this is bizzare - I woke up with incredible back pain on Tuesday. It doesn't bother me like it normally does after I sleep wrong, but rather just walking is crazy painful but warms up okay for running.
Maybe it's COVID-light

A simpler explanation: everyone's routines have been disrupted, and they are moving around much less each day then they used to?
I can assure you that inactivity is just about the worst thing in the world for my back.
Everyone's gotta running blog; I'm the only one with a POOL-RUNNING blog.
And...if you want a running Instagram where all the pictures are of cats, I've got you covered.
