We all read about what we shoul eat and how much but whatr exactly do we all eat. My typical day. Breakfast - Glass of orange juice Slice of toast and cup of tea. Multi vitamin and cod liver oil supplement. Mid Morning- 2 apples & bananna 2 cups of coffee through morning. Lunch - Chicken sandwich Bowl of homemade vegetable soup (winter/spring only) Cup of tea. Dinner - Pasta (300g), Tuna & veg. 2-4 plain biscuits. I try to drink a few glasses of water throughout the day and will drink after run. As per previous post I know i run too soon after my dinner. Ay comments welcome.

Not that I'm an expert, but I reckon you need a better/bigger breakfast. Oatmeal my friend, oatmeal. With fruit - either fresh or tinned. If I only had a piece of toast and a cup of tea for breakfast, I'd be ready to pass out within an hour!!! I'd drink less caffeine and more water. But that's just me Smile

Wow, after reading that meal plan, I feel like a huge hog! I tend to eat way more than that...and I am known to give in to those sweet cravings now and then...probably why I want to lose 5lbs. But honestly, aren't you ever hungry during your day? What is your typical mileage? CC

Hi, The only meal I am really controlling is breakfast: 1 cup of black tea + milk + 1 tea spoon of good honey 1 small bowl of whole grain honey o's, the milk is not drunk, just here to wet the cerals 1 whole grapefruit (thanks to the wonders of a global agriculture it is available all year long...) several cups of coffee or tea during the day (not more than 5) Lunch is usually a big bowl lettuce, crab/tuna and a handful of croutons, no dressing or a little balsamic vineagar or left overs from the night before Dinner: Rice and beans with either Tofu, fish or veggie sausages or fake meat (tates the sam I swear) or Fried rice with eggs or monthly home made mac and cheese or Lasagna (veggie of course) Bread and cheese A fruit Writing this meal description shows me that I am more regimented than I thought... I don't eat well at all...but that's why I run. It kind of makes up for it. Today I did not eat breakfast. I drank a bottle of water before lunch and for lunch had two hot pockets and a can of orange pop. Then for dinner I will probably have a Steak Um and cheese sandwich on white toast with some chips and milk. I don't keep track of what I eat and probably should since I pretty much eat all junk food and the realization of what I am eating might help curb my appetite. Growing up my mom cooked very large and flavorful (fat filled) food. But as a farm kid that was overactive it never showed. Now that I have a fairly non active job it begins to show and my DW does not like the fact that I cook well because then she eats more. And I love the sweets....so there is always something around to snack on.

Today I've had: Breakfast: Half a nectarine, string cheese (odd I know). Lunch: Large salad w/ fat free Italian dressing, more string cheese (what can I say, I love them). Snack: Apple, small tortilla with low fat cheese (man I love cheese) Dinner: Tonight we're having salad and pasta primavera. *Insert snooty waiter laugh here* Today is actually the first day that I've buckled back down on my food tracking.

Today I've had: Breakfast: Scone and cup of iced coffee with a splash of soy milk Lunch: Turkey sandwich with lettuce, pickles, provolone, mayo, a can of Coke I'll probably have a smoothie with fruit, soy milk, plain yogurt, honey, fiber powder, and protein powder after my run. Then for dinner, probably quinoa pasta with sauce and parmesan cheese and some kind of vegetable, and some soy ice cream for dessert. Plenty of water. Could definitely be better.

                          Speediest Slug There Is!

Well, I'm no athlete (yet), so I don't even know what I'm ''supposed'' to be eating. But I totally overhauled my diet about 3 months ago and have been eating really, really well ever since. I have a natural gift, which is that I have a very small appetite (but I'm still 174 lbs, go figure... I must have a sloth's metabolism.) I have been monitoring my caloric intake, and without starving myself (but deliberately trying to eat balanced meals) I am consuming maybe 1500 calories a day on average. (2,000 is my budget for my target body fat percentage of 25%) Here's today. I did awesome: Breakfast -- Fiber One Bar 1 Peach Lunch -- Chicken Risotto (1 cup) with vegetables 1/2 of a banana Hot tea Dinner -- 1 cup cooked fiber-and-protein pasta, with tomato sauce and 2 tbsp Parmesan cheese 3 dried garlic bread pieces w/garlic cheese spread 8-10 michigan cherries I eat as much fiber as I can every day because otherwise I will get very sick. I started a high-fiber diet in January on my doctor's recommendation and it changed everything! I try to have fiber with every meal now. It is amazing how much junk food I don't eat anymore because I am too busy trying to cram fiber into my diet. I know people are supposed to eat tons of fruits and vegetables every day, but I simply have no room in my stomach for that many! I try to eat fruits and veggies with every meal too... today was obviously a fruit day. My biggest vices are CHEESE and SODA POP. I have dealt with the soda pop issue by replacing it with those Izze drinks when I get the craving... they are 70% fruit juice and 30% sparkling water and pretty low calorie. The cheese issue has been a greater challenge. I used to consume 1/2 block of cheese in one entire sitting. I cannot emphasize enough how much cheese I used to eat. It is my favorite food, and very difficult to let go of. But once I learned how fattening it is, I was motivated to cut down my consumption. I started by only allowing myself 3 oz servings. The other day I cut myself a 2oz serving with fruit, and I ended up putting 1oz of cheese back in the fridge! I'm so proud of me! I didn't enjoy the cheese any less, either. In fact, maybe I enjoyed it more... I'm learning to eat more slowly, to savor what I eat. Changing my diet has made a profound difference in my IBS and my mood altogether. I would never have believed that changing your diet could have such a profound effect on your life. I wish I'd known sooner.

                            Eat, Play, Run

I've been keeping track of what I eat for about two and a half years. It's a habit, now. This is what I ate yesterday. It's fairly typical. Breakfast - 2 fried eggs, 1/2 grapefruit, 1 slice ezekiel toast with yeast, coffee with milk Lunch - salad: romaine, tomato, avocado, green onion, salsa, rf cheese, black beans. Dannon lite n fit yogurt. Snack - banana with natural peanut butter Dinner - grilled whole wheat tortilla with pesto, artichoke hearts, sun-dried tomato, fresh spinach, fat free feta, mozzarella. Salad with light red vinaigrette, peas and edamame Dessert - nsa ice cream, strawberries with chocolate sauce Looks like a feast compared to some of the menus posted here! I tend to go overboard on sweets, especially at gatherings. Otherwise I try to stick to whole foods as much as possible. I also have noticed a big difference in how I feel (and look) after changing my diet.
