Running with flat feet (Read 40 times)

Tiger Rag

I'm sure this is where almost all of my injury problems lie and I'm getting fed up now...

Not long after running the London marathon last year, I started getting a lot of pain in my feet whilst running. It then started when I was walking as well. I spoke to my GP who told me it's because my feet are flat and I need to have some insoles.

I can walk pain free. But running is a different matter. I've changed my running shoes, as advised by the lady who does my sports massage. But usually 2 weeks after I've had a massage, (I have them every 4 weeks roughly) the pain starts again.

I will check if my shoes do need replacing; but I don't think they do quite need replacing yet.

    Suggestions?

Might as well go see a specialist and get some custom orthotics made. I also am cursed with very flat feet and used to run with custom orthotics throughout high school (03-07), but then stopped running mostly throughout college and haven't really gone back to them (I'm being cheap). I've been luckily enough able to log 40 + mpw without issue for quite some time now. I have been running with the Saucony Omni for as long as I can remember. Just this morning I added the Saucony ISO Triumph 2 to help rotate shoes.

You might also want to go to your local running store and have a Gait analysis done to make sure you in fact are using the proper shoe.
