Thanks for the welcome. I hope the comeback sticks; but I should be on another 65-75m week. It is all just slowish base building w the occasional fartlek so far. I just do a lot of shorter runs (3-4 doubles) just to get my mind and body ready for higher mileage later on. I also had my fair share of glute/hamstrung stuff, which I blamed on historic overuse; but strangely enough this goes away the more I run. I am looking forward to get into the Canova type madness again, once I have sufficient base and start a formal marathon cycle.
Welcome back, RiHK! I’ve also been out of it for a long while. Finally signed up for a marathon and started back again... wondering when/if I’ll be seeing 90mpw+ ... seems a long way away right now 😜
be curious; not judgmental
And as expected we have close to 100% humidity right now in Orlando 😳 Houston would have been the race to hit this year! Or thinking I might need to travel north for my next goal race 😉
1mile: 4:46 (12/20) | 5K: 15:57 (3/21) | 10K: 33:40 (4/20) | 15K 51:43 (4/21) | HM: 1:15:03 (12/20) | FM: 2:40:30 (1/20)
Weatherboy is through 10k in 39:46. That's about 2:48 pace.
2:52:16 (2018)
Weather through 15k in 59:28, holding steady on the pace. He moved up from 5th to 4th place overall since 10k.
Weather through the half in 1:24:00. Still holding steady. 4th place overall.
Weather through 22.5 miles in 2:24:07, right at 6:24 pace and on track for about 2:48! He moved up to 3rd overall and really dropped the 4th place guy (over 2 minutes behind him now). He's not too far off #1 and 2; they are ~45 sec ahead of him.
He's been steady at about 6:22-6:24 the whole race. Just needs to hold on for these last few miles.
Ok that hurt guys!!
Wow!!! 2:48:58 at the finish, and he was 2nd overall... and only 1 second behind 1st place! Must have been a hell of a finishing sprint! He kept moving up in place throughout the race. Nicely done.
Congrats on the huge PR and great race execution Weatherboy! Imagine what you could do in 45 degrees!
Man, that's some exciting stuff. Congratulations! And thanks for tracking, JT.
Upcoming races: Boston
Mmmm Bop
HUGE congrats Weatherboy and I see you ran the last 0.3 at 5:56 pace so it must’ve been a nail biting finish!!!
5k - 17:53 (4/19) 10k - 37:53 (11/18) Half - 1:23:18 (4/19) Full - 2:50:43 (4/19)
Yeah I caught the leader, passed him with 100m left, and then he passed me as we turned the corner for the last 50m or so. No regrets as my hammy was locking up and emptied the tank with what I had at that point ...
Congratulations!
That was genuinely exciting just scrolling through there (thanks for posting JTReeves). Sounds like a brilliant effort andwell measured too. Well done.
Upcoming; 14th Sep Scottish veterans XC trials, 289th Sep Great Scottish Run 1/2, 12th October TAMA half marathon, 27th October Leeds Abbey dash 10k

I remember ages ago on RWOL a sensible man called Oleg called me out for running my recovery days too quickly and I was a bit dismissive saying I couldn't hold my form if I ran too slowly - some 10 minute miles this midweek brought this to mind.
Felt weirdly great today considering the long run yesterday and my highest mileage in about a year.
Whoa! Excellent race!
