I want to run Gnaw Bone this year. I have no reason why I want to run 50 miles in those hellacious hills but I do.

I bet that little causeway between the two lakes will be perfectly dry and easily to navigate....................... in the dark? Guaranteed fall and soaker.

1/28 at night? Unless you have a drill and ice saw you aren't getting wet.

Ok fair point. So it just means a slip and fall on ice you can't see.

BTW - did you see the HUFF pictures on FB? Holy hell am I glad I skipped that one. Oh and it was in the 20s.

I should be a couple weeks over real racing by then.  That's within 5-7 minutes of my sister so that would be a convenient race for me.

HUFF looked like a heart breaker. I think most of the course was relatively fast though. The first 3/4s of a mile or so of DWD were that muddy, but up a closed ski slope hill. For that matter, two years ago at Tecumseh, some of the crossings didn't look much off that one.

Edit: that flooded out portion is not like any of the crossings at Tecumseh.

Hah. Kind of like national Geographic. Only thing missing was some swamp creature grabbing one of the runnabeasts during the migration.

There won't be anything convenient about that race. You guys are going to love the portions where they just tie flags on random trees in the woods and pretend there is a trail that leads from one to the other.

Yes, it's allowed.  I was going to ask you to change your goal to 54:24, but I didn't want to push my luck.

                         OK I'll play , why 54:24?

Whoops.  I read "1:04:42" a day earlier than my post and recalled it as as "1:04:24."

I have no running races in January but I am entered in a Winter Snow Bike race.

Triple D Bike / Ski / Run...64 mile Bike.  It's tough to set a goal. Typically less than half the field finishes. Last year was the largest finisher list they have had. Currently we don't have any snow so I don't even know what bike I'll be riding.

I guess "To Finish" should be my primary goal.

I feel so blessed that none of my 50Ks went through THAT

It's a 5k. It hurt like hell...then I tried to pick it up. The end.
