Are we there, yet?
What does standard deviation measure, and is it good or bad to be among the leaders? Sorry, but it's been well over 50 years since I took statistics in college.
2024 Races:
03/09 - Livingston Oval Ultra 6-Hour, 22.88 miles
05/11 - D3 50K 05/25 - What the Duck 12-Hour
06/17 - 6 Days in the Dome 12-Hour.

Consistency.

Yup, that's what I'm trying to measure.
For 2 runners with a 40 MPW average:
Runner a: 39, 40, 40, 41
Runner b: 20, 40, 60, 40
Runner a will have a better standard deviation.

I am running my miles every week and am in the bottom half of the standings. It's like I am in the main forum miles game again!

Everyone's sandbagging!
When are race points coming back?
I have some suggestions for rules I'd like to change.
Just to give you the full experience.
I'm with you. This is a group full of overachievers!
I blame it on including that third year in the calculations for weekly goal. If only the last two years were included, I'd be right in line.
2019 - 2107.7
2020 - 2147.3
2021 - on pace for 2128
Yeah, same.
I had my highest year ever last year which I have no desire to repeat, which screws me from the start
I like the fact that the mileage goal here is based on objective data and not subject to interpretation, revision, or gaming.

Simplicity is key.

Indeed. And these days that can apply to so much more than the miles game.
40 miles for me this week, which is more than 10% less than last week. That will wreak havoc with my standard deviation.
