I had a great training cycle to start the year - first time I ever completed every workout in the 18-weeks of the plan (technically, I have 3 more easy runs to go). Of course, the only half I could find for this spring now has 25mph winds forecast for race day. I should be drifting back down the standings now that the training cycle has ended.
5k 23:48.45 (3/22); 4M 31:26 (2/22); 5M 38:55 (11/23); 10k 49:24 (10/22); 10M 1:29:33 (2/24); Half 1:48:32 (10/22); Marathon 4:29:58 (11/23)Upcoming races: Scotch Plains 5k, 6/12; Firecracker 4-miler, 7/4
Should be a piece of cake after the 2018 version
Yes, I mean what are 25mph winds compared to the 40mph gale we faced, right? At least I can shoot for a personal course record...
The wind direction makes a big difference too. The 2016 had a gale (and freeze) warning and for most of the race it was a cross wind. It wasn't nearly as bad as the 2018 conditions. It seems like no matter what direction the wind comes from, when you hit Longport, it will be awful.
Yes, right now it looks like a headwind on the way out and changing to a crosswind as it strengthens on the way back. Also about 10º warmer than last time, which could actually be a little too warm - depends on whether it's raining. So, not ideal, but not nearly as bad as 2018.

You got your covid shot first.

If the wind is coming from the west, tuck in as close as possible to the casinos as possible (like close enough to touch). It does help, I figured that out really quick in 2016.
I'm coming for you, Baboon...you better move your ass!!
I'm coming for you, Onemile...you better move your ass!!
Good tip, thanks (though large parts of the run are south of the casinos).
Have you ever run the Ocean City half? I just noticed today that the northern end of the OC half comes within 1¼ miles of the southern portion of the AC half. Just a fun fact.

No, just AC. DH has friends who live in AC, so it's an easy one to convince him to go to for the weekend. Yea, once you pass the casinos, there's no protection.

FredFord66, I still don't know why you don't share your log, but since you don't, I can't pull your mileage without you posting it. I'll fix the results after you post'em.
