For some odd reason, I had more fun last year in this crap. Even when it was a wind chill of -7 I still had fun, hell Rocky had fun but this year just sucks........ and it doesn't help that my hamstring is back to bothering me again, thanks to my dumbass going out and running 8.4 miles Sunday after running a hilly 5k Saturday. It is currently 1 degree, and my garmin 220 stopped working just at 4.2 miles as we finished 4.3 miles, it was frosted over... I thought "Fuck! All this suckiness and it probably didn't even save the run!!!" but luckily it did.
I think I am going to focus on strength training this week, if I do decide to run.... "gulp"... on a dreadmill it will only be 30-40 minutes of suffering but I think it would be best to give my hamstrings and glutes a couple of days to rest and recover.
Poop.
I wear my watch under my jacket when it's cold FS. Otherwise it shuts itself off after a little while.
Speed/Power/Anaerobic workout on tap today.

Whatcha say there, Jack and Jane Frost! Treadmill progression run before work this morning. Since I felt like I didn't push hard enough in my last couple of these workouts, my coach said to really test myself this morning. He said to go hard and hang on the best I could, so did this run with that in mind. 60 minutes, increasing the intensity every 10 minutes. Mile splits:
7:56
7:08
7:14
6:58
6:44
6:38
6:30
6:21
6:17 (.7 miles)
8.7 miles at 6:54 pace. That was a hard effort, especially the last 20 minutes (5K pace is 6:33). I am happy that my legs are tired but nothing hurts. Now I can work late today and not worry about having to get this run in.
Coffee time.

Ain't going out there. It's 25 degrees, but with a thin layer of sleet/ice. I can trip and fall on a dry day, skittering around on ice would be just dumb. I think I'll do some yoga stretching and maybe bring the hand weights up from the basement. It's 48 down there.
Baboon: wow. You effing killed that.
Nothing so exciting for me. 9 pretty slow on the treadmill trying to make sure my knee would hold up. Which it did, although a little painful doing a quad stretch afterward. As long as it feels OK while running, I'm good.

11 miles after work tonight, at easy/moderate effort. Another long, stressful day... Not sure how many more years I can do this. Not a good group of families this year.

I like to look at it periodically without fidgeting with my jacket or long sleeves, but I had two pairs of gloves on and couldn't wrap the watch around it so i held it. Sunday was colder, but I had on one pair of gloves and was able to wrap it around....maybe it just had more body heat Sunday morning...
what's wrong? Are you getting more urges to slap people?
Slap people, no, break contracts, yes. But I won't do it because I have a loyalty to the children I work with... Lots of bottled up anger, though.
'Sup!
8 on the belt done, 5 at marathon pace. I would spend the rest of the day eating shit up but I did that yesterday so pass the arugula.

I just realized it was 7.75 miles.
And a crap load of punch-keys are indeed in the building!
