Fear is a Liar
The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails!
What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the common benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges." It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)
I'm so vegetarian I don't even eat animal crackers!
Good morning Penguins!
7 miles planned for after work.
Smaller By The Day
Gustav - Enjoy your 7. I'm going to head out the door here shortly, and get in a quick 4 before work. Then, I'll get in another 4 after work. I kind of like throwing in a couple of doubles.

Damaris
Damaris - Running with the spouse is pretty fun. Isn't it?
Finished up this morning with 4 1/2 miles. I have to say that the increased running volume hasn't been as tough as I thought it would be. I feel really strong, and haven't really had a bad run yet. Don't get me wrong. I know I'll have one eventually. I just think that I had that I might be starting to get to another level of fitness that I wasn't expecting. It's pretty exciting.
Bin - From yesterday. My longest run will be partially be based on my paces as I get into the later phases of the program. Jack Daniels does a lot of long runs based on time at a specific pace. You might run a certain distance at easy and a certain distance at tempo, then some easy followed by a couple of hours at marathon pace, etc. I don't think the long runs ever specify an actual distance. They tend to be based on time spent at a particular pace.
Hi everybody. Trying to get back into work mode after a nice 3-day weekend.
Intervals tonight.
Return To Racing
Good morning. 59dp already, so this is looking like a RD. Stay cool !!!
Phillie - All weekends should be AT LEAST 3 days. Just my thoughts, but unfortunately... Enjoy the intervals.
Jerry - It was alright when I was out there You need to go back to 6 AM, and try a run.
Skirt Runner
Good morning! Today my plan called for a 31 minute easy fartlek of between 2 and 3 miles. It was my first fartlek and I enjoyed it! It literally tells you to make it up as you go, which was fun. I ran fadt when I felt like it and jogged when I felt like it. Have a great day!

Quote of the day: "It was my first fartlek and I enjoyed it!"
I don't know why, but it makes me giggle.
Has anyone noticed that the number of responses on RR's is down, but there's a thread with over 250 responses that sounds like a bunch of turds arguing over who floats highest in the toilet bowl? I'm not sure there's a solution. I just wanted to point it out, and see if I'm the only person who noticed.
Lol anson. Your analysis of the turd bowl is spot on.
goodmorning gustav
Kristin, congrats on your official training and fartlicking! Yay. Ha
phillie, enjoy your intervals
jerry, enjoy your RD unless anson talks you out of it
Damaris, have fun running with hubby
My husband will never ever run so I will never experience running with a spouse or SO. Someone has to be with the kids too. Little technicality. Even if we had no kids I'm 1455% sure he still wouldn't run.
I did 3.5 muggy miles last night. iced, stretched. I *think* I feel a tender spot on my shin. Not sure. I've been doing my exercises. Dunno.
I found a local website that shows temp and dewpoint etc and it look like our dewpoints are higher at night (around 70-72) then in morning where they are (69 or 70)
so who is gonna post a butt shot here? Or a naked man shot?
