Penguin's Drink Beer MonDAILY (Read 14 times)

Return To Racing

The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the common benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges." And some penguins don't run at all, we just hang out for the company! It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)

    Happy Drink Beer Day !!

      Good Morning !!!

Short run planned, but since this is our last warm day for a while, it might get extended.

      Have a great week  !!!

No beer for me just a RD.

        From the Internet.

Morning! Coach has given me the green light for a weekly workout so I jumped right in with a short track session this morning. I had to run an 800 and a 400 for another fun and silly Internet running game (well, "had" to, no one would have FORCED me to do it), so I planned on 1x1200, 2x800, 3x400 for 2.5 miles of fast work, picking up the pace on the second 800 and last 400. Only had time for 2x400, but everything else went as planned - did my steady 800 in 3:45, fast 800 in 3:29; steady 400 in 1:52, fast 400 in 1:37.

Someone on another forum mentioned that I might want to try a more aggressive warmup before workouts since I felt absolutely fantastic during my cooldown after my mile time trial last week. I did that today, with a bit more uptempo easy running after the first mile of my warmup and pushing a bit harder than usual during my strides, and I felt good right off the bat instead of feeling kind of like crap during my first interval. Pretty nifty!

          Jill.

          Penguin Power!

Morning Pens!  Rest, stretching, and maybe a short streak run to get the blood flowing is what I've got planned for today.

Nope, same bright red.  Might leave it one more week if I cannot make it home on time.

                    Singer who runs a smidge

Morning, Penguins!!  I'm back at work after a lovely week of vacation -- the weather was so-so, but the campground was really nice, we pretty much unplugged (since cell service was pretty spotty), and the few days we had just chilling at home were wonderful!  Then on Sunday a little grey kitty showed up at our back deck wanting out of the rain.  She's very friendly, but we're taking her to the vet to see if she's microchipped and then putting out flyers to see if someone is missing her.  If not, we might end up with a third kitty!  Kaycee and Chewie aren't thrilled -- Chewie is fussing more than Kaycee.  Dusty doesn't really care.  I'm trying not to think of her as a birthday present from God ...

Jerryb -- have a good run, short or long!

PAD -- have a good RD!!

Lauren -- woo-hoo for your workout!!

sapf -- good luck with the blood flow!!

Docket -- have a good RD or 6!!

Zelanie -- have a good RD!!

When it's all said and done, no one remembers how far we have run.  The only thing that matters is how we have loved.

Hope - the best pets are those that choose you and just show up.  I hope you get to keep the kitten.  Where did you go to the beach?  We were at Assateague last week and I wondered if you were also there.

Jerry - last warm day?  A few weeks ago we were all praying for cool days, now you want it warm?

PAD - you earned your rest day.

D - have a good day, whether you run or not.  When do you leave for Chicago?

Lauren - that was a good workout.  Glad you're back and didn't lose any speed.

sapf - enjoy your streak run.

Z - enjoy your rest day.

I'll probably do 6 or 7 this afternoon.  It's cool and cloudy again, so nice for running.

Ginny, I leave the day before the race, LOL.  Enjoy the run.

Hope, hope you get the kitten.

We were a bit south of you, at Kiptopeke.  Chewie is one that just showed up and stuck with us.  Now he's the one fussing about someone else doing the same thing!  I've been trying to give him some extra loving so he doesn't feel shoved aside.  I expect he'll come around eventually.

                                Cute photo, HsM!

Off work today to sleep in, get errands done, and a "deep muscle therapy" massage later. Might do a few miles around the neighborhood later, but oddly, my toenails are the most sore

                                I can. I will. I am.
