I'm still alive. Whatever virus I have is kicking my ass. I crawled into bed Thursday afternoon and I finally went downstairs today. Flu test was negative, but I may have been too early for it to be effective. I was able to defer the race until next year.

I've seen influenza type A results all over Instagram. What does the test entail?
Sticking a swab up your nose.
Up your nose with a rubber hose.

what is the point of getting tested? to then get Tamiflu?
Basically. And even then they’ll usually only prescribe tamiflu if your symptoms just started in the last 48-72 hours
Yep, I went seeking drugs. I was told I could come back today to retest and tomorrow if the fever isn't gone. Its been 102.
Another reason for going is to get a no work slip. Considering my sick time has been maxed out for 12 years, my boss won't really GAF if I am out over 3 days.

Of course I posted in the wrong thread.

Getting tested also lets the CDC know how pervasive the flu is.
I ran 6.5 rainy miles. Talked to the dog's owner and the dogs have had their shots. I'm taking his word on that, but given that it's in a development and the dogs don't wander too far, I'm not too worried about rabies. A local runner had to get the series last year because he had no idea about the dog that had bitten him while he was trail running, and his story stuck with me. Usually you just want to get away ASAP. Asking for names and phone numbers isn't your first priority, though it really should be. I also wanted an apology, which I did get today.
I ultimately work for a hospital, so they have a whole manual on flu procedures. I work in the school programs, so it's a little different for us. When swine flu hit, if you called out sick, you needed to speak to a nurse and tell them your temperature.

How did your calf feel?
It seems to be completely fine now. Not a peep.
