Weekend Penguins Wishing for Spring (Read 25 times)

GinnyinPA

The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the common benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges." It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)

Unusual for me to be first one posting.  Only two hours sleep last night (if that).

Good luck to Mitch today and Jack tomorrow.  Anyone else racing today?

      Brilliant

        is your race still on?

8 easy miles planned this morning.  Just waiting for the sun to to peek over the hill.

        LRB

          Good morning!

I was reeled in by the title. I am so done with dressing like an Eskimo to run. That's no fun.

            Hi Pens,

I'm up and getting ready to go for my run. My evil twin in my head is really talking smack right now. But I've got a busy day ahead and if I don't go now, it won't get done. Plus, it looks so pretty outside with a touch of Spring.

Thanks for starting us off Ginny.  I hate sleepless nights.

            Enjoy Brilliant.

Howdy LRB! I'm looking forward to a single layer this morning.

            Going for 6 easy.

              Return To Racing

Thanks for the start, Ginny.  Now you can get some sleep.

Waiting for the predicted 40F, then we run.  Have a warm weekend.

You guys need to move to Oregon.  It's around freezing now, but should be in the 60s today with sun.  We have trillium blooming already. I'm probably taking a RD just because I have a lot to get done.

                    Good luck, Ginny and Mitch!

Kathleen- Tell that evil twin to STFU!

                    Brilliant- Have a nice 8!

                    LRB- Hiya!

PAD- Did you decide to jump back up on your training and then taper, or something different?

Jerry- Hope it warms up for your run!

Dan- Glad you're back to getting consistent mileage in!

Absolutely glorious out!! Took your advice Zel.

There were people outside! I counted 8: 1 runner, 2 dog walkers,   1 tall walker in basketball trunks, 3 folks in there yards, and 1 porch sitter.  The sky is that amazing blue, I hear birds and all's right with the world. Ahhh, no wishing...spring is here...at least for today.

                      6.3 check!

Kathleen, your spring run sounds really nice.  I love listening to the birds Smile

LRB, you could always spend 2 hours on a treadmill to avoid the eskimo layers. Wink

PAD & Jerry, have a nice run.

Texas CPA, enjoy the spring.  Bluebonnets yet?  (I used to be a Texas CPA - UT Austin BBA, Coopers & Lybrand in Austin, and KPMG in Fort Worth!)

Zel, hope your day is productive.

Good luck to Mitch and Ginny (she didn't post an update so I guess she's out racing after all!)

My 8 is done.  It is definitely spring here, lots of birds chirping and trees blooming out there! I am freaking out over the weather forecast for next weekend...low 80s predicted for the LA Marathon.  NOOOOO!!!  That's what they said last year and it ended up topping out at 88 degrees.

                        Jack K.

                          Hi Pens.

I have my HM tomorrow and I hope it's not too hot. Wink  3 miles easy today with some strides. The strides were nice. It was the first time in about two weeks that I got my legs moving like that and it felt good. Now we're off to Long Beach for a swim meet with DD2.

Brill: I ran LA last year and it was miserably hot at the finish. A big reason why is because there was no breeze coming off the ocean that day. If you have that breeze, you should be fine.

Ginny: Did you get to race?

See ya later. I will check in from said swim meet when I am bored out of my mind or not napping.

                          Brilliant

I can't believe this...I wasn't happy with Intellicast's prediction of 82 degrees, so I checked MSN Weather and they say 94!  No ocean breeze will save me.  I will surely die.

Morning!  Ran 8.13 with hubby this morning.

When I ran LA two years ago, the weather was awesome.  50s all the way through.

Zel - I'm just repeating the last month minus one of the 20's.

Good luck Ginny, Mitch, & Jack.
