Barking Mad To Run

Nice extra miles, Scotty. I like it when I feel good enough not to be thrown off by a wrong turn.   It's not that I was feeling all that good, Brilliant - altho I was feeling pretty good - it's that I'm just darn stubborn and hate back-tracking the way I came.  That's why, at one of my events when I missed the 5K turn-around point, I ended up doing the 10K instead of the 5K, lol.  I finished DEAD LAST in the 10K, but I finished.    80 degrees, nice!  Enjoy your run and good luck with the upcoming marathon.  Have lots of photos taken of you!

Congrats on the miles, PAD.  Enjoy the group workout.

Enjoy your Thriday, Jerry.  Hope the weather is cooperating for your LR this weekend.

Way to conquer the humidity and dewpoint, Damaris!  That's one thing so far San Antonio is not dealing with yet.. Right now humidity in the 50s and 60s and dew-point fairly low too.  That will change around late April, early May for we San Antonio runners.

7.5 last night, 8 tonite..puttin' in the miles, Zelanie!  Wish I could still run that far, but it is what it is, no use crying about it.

Mitch, 7-ish and 8?  Are you and Zelanie on the same training plan?  Wishing you happy happy happy miles!

Yes, HsM, I am loving it!  I really HATE cold weather, so am always happy around here when the temps finally get back into the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s.  Anything below 50 annoys me, lol.  Oh, I still run in it, but it's not my first preference.   Have fun at chorus tonite!  You're pretty close to competition day now, aren't you?

Have fun at the race expo, SAPF! Good luck with the half this weekend!

Well, Jack, if I ever get any thin-mints you can have them, I actually don't like them all that much, I prefer the lemon ones; so we can trade!   Hope your miles are going well these days, are you fully recovered now from...dang, I'm having a memory blank, stupid old age ....from whatever it was?   You're not going to the dance too?  Straw hat, bib overalls, 'shitkicker' boots and shotgun, as the father escorting 'the kids' to their wedding...

Hope your weather has improved up there, Sly!  Right now in San Antonio, we have what the weather guys call "abundant sunshine".  Yay!  Nice to have a big window near my desk and see all that brightness and blue sky outside!

Scotty - sounds like a good run yesterday.  Hope today's is easy enough to recover.

PAD - good luck on the double today.

Damaris - nice job on the MP run.

Brilliant - hope your warm run goes well.  Is this the last one before the race?

      Z - hope tonight's 8 go well.

HopesMom - enjoy rehearsal tonight.  Two days in a row?  Is it the competition group or your other group?

sapf - the expo is early for a Sunday race.  Have fun.

Jerry - hope your short run goes well.

Hi Slymoon.  Enjoy your short run tonight.

Mitch - are you Z following the same schedule?  Have a good one tonight.

Jack - have a good run later.  I take it the ankle is completely healed?

I haven't had any GS cookies in years.  Too expensive, I don't need the calories, and my diabetic husband doesn't need the sugar.  I do occasionally miss them though.  I used to sell them, back when they were 50 cents a box.  This year I haven't even seen a Scout.  It has been too cold for them to be set up outside the grocery store and we don't seem to have any in the neighborhood.

I'll be doing 5 or 6 later.  It's cold and windy right now, but it should warm up a bit.

      Singer who runs a smidge

The quartet (last night's group) is competing this year, but the chorus (tonight's group) isn't.  Some years both compete, and then it's really crazy!  Competition is March 27th for the quartets, 28th for the choruses.  Good times will be had by all!

When it's all said and done, no one remembers how far we have run.  The only thing that matters is how we have loved.

        Zelanie

Jack- Right now socks are one of my coping strategies. If I need to kick some butt, the shark socks come out. Need more fun in my day? Then it's the dinos or sasquatch socks.

          Jack K.

Scotty and Ginny: I am pretty much recovered my ankle thing. I still feel it a bit, but not much. I think I am having a hard time recovering from my HM because of the big downhill section. That really hurt and now I feel like I can only do easy miles.

Zel: PERFECT!  Today I am wearing mismatched striped socks. On one foot is blue and red, on the other I have orange, green, and black. Recently, Target has had some good socks for $4 a pair.

Thank goodness I haven't been approached about the GS cookies. I used eat way more than I should, and now I have more self discipline so maybe I won't eat any. I got my 8 miles with Bella, and I might just do a few more tonight.

Zel is was more disciplined than me on training. It was just a coincidence,  haha.

              Zelanie

I stopped at 7.5 because dinner was ready. Wink

                Jill.

sapf - the expo is early for a Sunday race.  Have fun.

Yeah it goes Thurs-Sat.  I believe this half will have over 20,000 participants so it is a pretty big expo =D

                  Upcoming Races: Run as One 4M (4/24) * Japan Run 4M (5/8) * Brooklyn Half (5/21)

I am giving my computer a break from grinding on a massive dataset.  I think the hamster was getting a little tired!!  Plus I have to leave in an hour, and I wasn't sure that it would finish on time if I started processing again!  I may have to make a case to IT for a swankier computer.

When it's all said and done, no one remembers how far we have run.  The only thing that matters is how we have loved.

                    Return To Racing

3.5 easy street miles. Nice out, but cold wind half the time.  Bike path is clear of snow, except where there are trees. Unfortunately, it is a forest preserve bike path, so our 10 miler will be on the streets sometime this weekend.

Zel/Jack, when you mismatch socks do you mismatch the brands/thickness besides the color?  This seems another good way to annoy DW.

                      Brilliant

Jack, YES I'm hydrating!  I can't seem to get away from folks telling me to hydrate. Smile  Yesterday the insurance adjuster was here to look at my car, and he commented on how hot it will be this weekend.  My hubby said, "Yeah, and she's running the LA Marathon," pointing at me.  The adjuster said, "Are you hydrating yet?"  I burst out laughing and he said, "I saw that on the news.  You're supposed to start now."

Ginny, I have one more run - 2 miles on Saturday just to loosen up, I guess.    I'm with you on the girl scout cookies being too expensive (in addition to not needing the calories, etc.).  $5 a box!   A local grocery store had Keebler cookies on sale for $2/box last week, and some of those are pretty darn good too.  Pecan Sandies, yum.

                        Mitch, nice running with Bella.

4 miles done in 85 degrees; wow that was hot!

I ate 2(3?) boxes of Samoas this year. One entire box in about 5 minutes and the second box a few days later took about 2 hours?

Then someone told me That Coconut Dreams (found at the grocery store) were the same as the GS Samoas so I bought a box of those to see, and yes, they are just like them and I ate that whole box in about 5 mins as well.   I will never buy them again!

zel, I wanna see a pic of the sasquatch socks!

URD for me.  I did stability work on the Bosu Ball and it tweaked my peroneal tendon on my left ankle.  I have been in a brace since yesterday.  It feels much better today.  Im running a half Saturday morning and I plan to tape the hell out of it and hope for the best.

Thank you guys for the responses yesterday regarding interval workouts - they still sound intimidating still but I'll just adapt 'em down so they're doable

scotty - nice hill work yesterday and a late congrats on the AG award last weekend!

                                Hi, PAD!

Brilliant - is running later in the day when it's warmer helping? It's supposed to get up to low 80's here this weekend so I can only imagine SoCal temps. I hear you on the 'not wanting to complain when everyone else has snow and ice'; last weekend I got a funky tanline from a new sports bra and tank combo but I'm not gonna complain either!

Jerry - beer has a lot of calories and yet I want to try one (never made it to the pub with MIL, she flaked) What would you recommend to accompany BBQ that is worth the calories? I have another meal coming up with the in-laws...

Docket - to me, 10 miles on a work day is impressive, but what's also impressive is how your hair doesn't get big in humidity! Genes or product? It rained yesterday and mine went fluffy. Like air-bag fluffy.

Hi, Zelanie - thank you for making track workouts seem achievable. Joining a group workout seems really scary but it sounds like there can be all levels (it's not just marketing). There's a local group called Red Power Divas that I might check out.

                                sapf - enjoy the expo!

HsM - mmmmm. Milky Way cake  And if I haven't already said so, thank you for the breathing advice! I'm now the funny lady on the TM that puts a hand on her stomach every now and then to remind myself to belly breathe but it's very helpful!

                                Hi, H4L (and Bella)!

Jack - photos of the socks?

Ginny - hope you had a nice 5 or 6 in the *brrrr!* wind! I appreciate your explanation of intervals and I hadn't though of them as a way to build speed but just to keep my brain busy on the TM. I'm nowhere near speedy, but it's interesting to think I could become faster than I am.

Traci - sorry to hear about your ankle but I'm glad it's doing better. Are you hydrating like Brilliant? What's your weather expected to be?

AFM, another session with the trainer tonight. She wants to do more core work but I think I'll ask for low weights-high reps on the machines so I can get more familiar with the gym equipment. Some of it looks medieval and there's a leg machine that looks like a pasta machine and something called the "glute master" that I'm curious about.

And Hi! to Obie, Stone Fence, and Kathleen in case you're reading

                                I can. I will. I am.
