Yeah, but I don't think he was monkeying around either.
Agreed. On pace for a 3:18 in the first 10k is no joke! And finishing in 3:23 is much harder than most people think. Only 5 minutes off of his goal is certaily an excellent job. Marathons are tricky beasts...
PRs: Boston Marathon, 3:27, April 15th 2013
Cornwall Half-Marathon, 1:35, April 27th 2013

Hope Boon is bringing it home strong. Go, Phil, Go!! I've got 16 miles planned for after breakfast.

I thought you were in taper? 16 miles now seem to me like an awful loooong run!
I am afraid it won't be long though. Congrats on the big PR Baboon! I ran 10. It sucked.

I've been having ups and downs like that as well. I think that what really matters is that you got the 10 miles in. That they sucked doesn't really matter. It's a mental victory, because you got it done despite the suckiness. Well done.
race obsessed
Congrats Baboon!
Agreed Lily - marathons are definitely tricky beasts.
No more marathons
I didn't win. No $3500 for me.
I've saved you a piece of pie.
Nice PR Babs.

Lordy, I hope there are tapes.
He's a leaker!
Run to live; live to run

you our can win next time
lily any more dizziness?
A 15 minutes PR is no joke. Congrats on the race!
Bit short of 12 miles this morning (11.86). With yesterday afternoon's 14.4, I ran a marathon in less than 24 hours.
Ditto, except 2:30 recoveries in between and 9.2 miles total. My old ass takes a little longer to warm up. It was my best tempo workout to date, I killed it.

Did you do 2x2 miles or 4x1 mile? I did 4 x 1 mile. I reread that section in Daniels' book yesterday and he recommands 1 minute breaks after 1 mile Ts, and 2 minutes breaks after 2 mile Ts. You might take longer to warm up, but once warmed up, you leave me behind to eat your dust!
congrats phil...that is a huge pr...xlnt job!
just a few miles this morning, have a great day all.
marathon pr - 3:16

4 x 1 mile, I have never done the famed 2 x 2 mile workout at tempo pace which is not only a Daniels staple but is advocated by many others as well. I may try it this off season.
I generally recover for 400 meters (about 2 minutes). My shorter recoveries are usually during VO2 max blasts or 200 meter "R" pace repeats.

My 7.5 miles sucked this morning, so we can be suck buddies
