Waltons ThreadLord
Anyone who was in the game in 2022 is assumed in for 2023. Anyone not already in who'd like to join, please speak up. The primary requirement is having 3 full years of run data on RA (i.e. 2020, 2021, and 2022) from which your goal can be calculated. How the game works, and the annual & multiyear standings are in the sticky thread.
I'll post the 2023 goals here in early January (hopefully January 1). The game starts Monday, January 2, but I can't establish the goals until 2022 is finished.
5k 23:48.45 (3/22); 4M 31:26 (2/22); 5M 38:55 (11/23); 10k 49:24 (10/22); 10M 1:29:33 (2/24); Half 1:48:32 (10/22); Marathon 4:29:58 (11/23)Upcoming races: Greta's Run 5k, 5/19; Scotch Plains 5k, 6/12
This year's game will have 52 weeks.
Below is a table showing the last 4 years' mileage for the competitors as well as last year's goal and this year's goal. Showing the last 4 years helps explain the changes (we use a 3-year average so we're dropping the oldest and adding the most recent).
But first, a few points of interest:
Anyway, here are the numbers.

I am sure I'm getting old, lol.

I suspect 2020 and maybe even 2021 were outliers for many. Without races, especially in 2020, it was probably easier to maintain higher miles with no need to taper/recover from races.

Damn, my weekly target went up a mile because my lower mileage 2018 dropped off. Whatevs...bring it.

Yes, this. I do not expect to ever get back to my 2020-21 totals; I’ll be glad when they start dropping off my 3-year average. Even with a down year in ‘22, that mpw goal will be a real stretch to maintain.
Dave
HCK, Dave - good insight about why '20 and '21 were high mileage years for so many.
In reality, it’s a good goal for me. It’s just higher than the one I put in for the other game, because it would be touch and go hitting green every week. I’d feel more pressure to avoid letting down the team. I always say that game doesn’t affect what I run, but there are occasions when it does.
Super B****
I love how I can have the shittiest of shitty years and still have my goal increase
chasing the impossible
because i never shut up ... i blog
My target is still 11 miles per week higher than Dave, who has the second highest. I am probably going to be in the vicinity of 3000 miles, so way under my goal. Just saying.
Am I too late to join? Mileages for last 3 years were 2020 684.2, 2021 220.4 and 2022 686.5.
Started running at age 60.
AG 60-64 PR - 5K 25:45, 10K 53:28, HM 1:57:39, Marathon 4:32:09
AG 65-69 PR - 5K 26:11, HM 2:02:39, Marathon 5:04:47
Upcoming race: Four on the 4th 7/4/24 maybe.
You're in with a weekly average target of 10 miles, though the RA report I ran this morning shows your 2022 mileage as 684.11 - did you log some miles for yesterday some time today?
Yes, I ran 2.4 miles late yesterday afternoon and didn't get it logged in until today.
Good, that lets me know there weren't bigger issues in my reporting. Generally, I run the weekly results on Mondays, but sometimes I forget. Making a correction for missed miles isn't a problem, but I don't re-post the weekly results with the corrections - I just let them flow through to the next week.
Are we there, yet?
Question about how to handle my current activity. For personal use I catalogue my daily workout as a Run because it is training mileage. In reality it is a power walk because I'm restricted by my orthopedist to walking, no running at this time. Should I have you override my totals and record a zero as these miles are not, strictly speaking, running miles?
